Like nearly everyone says, it happens when you stop trying. So as hard as it is to just sit and relax, sometimes that's your best bet. I wish you the best of luck though!

I know I'm late replying but I thought I'd reply anyways. I just made one last night with a 4 way stretch jersey. It does roll, but it doesn't look bad. I'm making another with what was labelled "100% mixed fibers" but stretches. I'm assuming it was some sort of knit jersey type. It's not as shiny, but it seems to be working out well.

Just make sure your material stretches. I attempted this with non-stretch quite a while back and it did not work at all.

I think cutting the pieces is generally the most time consuming for any quilt. I started cutting out pieces for a double wedding ring quilt about a month ago, and I got fed up and just put it aside. Good luck with your quilt!

Those are freaking adorable! Do the crayons fall out of the totes that have them on the outside or are they fitted enough that they stay?

I usually don't wonder outside of the quilting or the clothing sections here on Craftster but during my horrible week I clicked the main image and was just looking for something to distract me. I love the cool gray walls, the simplicity of it, and the pop of the single red heart. Sadly my room is a disgusting gold colour (thanks to my older brother having the room first), and I just do not have the patience to align everything like that. This is what I did come up with instead, and I must say I LOVE it.

I don't know how many hearts are up there but I would say probably somewhere around 70ish give or take. I just started at the bottom and worked my way up. The bottom hearts are white, next up is a shimmering cream, then light pink, and a darker pink. The LOVE is the darkest pink so it's easily seen, and although doesn't look centered, it is centered with my fish tank below it.

It was only something silly like 520 squares, so it really wasn't that bad. Plus I did it in layers, so I think cutting was the most time consuming. After that, it's smooth sailing.

I've sewn clothing and whatnot before, but never anything this large (it's roughly queen size with a fleece backing). I can't say it took much skill as I designed it all out on my laptop first, but I am extremely proud. I had to cut about 4/5ths of the 3.5" squares out with scissors, and my machine broke not even 7 squares in. I ended up finishing it at my Nana's on her Designer 1 on the 22nd, 23rd, and the last seam on the 24th only to be given away later that day. This was how I had laid it out: (each square represents the finished 3" square)

Anyhow this is the only picture I have until I can steal my mother's camera. It's not great, but my dog claimed it before my lucky fiance could get it.
