11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: A-line wedding dress on: August 06, 2005 07:04:59 PM
But, I have a technical question: what does flatted mean?
alas, it is things like this that hinder my climb up the seamstress ladder.

xtine821--Cool, I was Emily in a production of OUR TOWN when I was 19 (seems ages ago).  I love that play, too--but my photobucket title is that plus that my name is Cloe and my Mom used to call me "Clover" and my Dad called me "Grover" (like the blue fellow in Sesame Street) so...it kind of all evolved Grin

Wow what a coincidence!  What a great play it is... hee hee and guess what?  I recently started dating my "George" from 2 years ago when I was in Our Town.  It's funny how that happens, isn't it?

Anyway, It's neato that you joined those two names together; great nickname, I wish I had one like that ;-)

...and how can I go without gushing over the amazing goddess of a dress you have created!  You made my day! Thanks!

Anybody have any tips from experience on how to get through a military relationship? I'm doing alright so far, but any tips would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.

It's absolutely beautiful!!! I loooove it so much!  That dress makes you wish you weren't 17.  I just love the clean, simplicity of it.

By the way, does the name of the link "grovers corners" refer to Thornton Wilder's play, "Our Town"?  Because if it does, I love that play and I played Emily in it last year.  Anyway, gorgeous dress!!!
15  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / shoulder pads on: July 19, 2005 03:15:59 PM
anyone have any ideas of what to do with shoulder pads that I ripped out of blazers?  One set is lilac colored and the other is pink.  They must be of some crafty use, but I can't figure it out... help me please!

oh i do loooove a man in uniform.

Not to get too off-topic, but I do too.  And I'm so glad I live near NYC, because come Fleet Week, they boys are out in full force, and Midtown is just packed to the max with men in uniform, and the girls (*cough me cough*) who lust after them!

FYI: For those unaware of the phenomenon that is Fleet Week, it's a week where a bunch of naval ships dock in New York and the streets flood with men in uniform.  It's some kind of big deal for the Navy, too, I think there's a parade or something.

Fleet week is a big deal in New York, especially for the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kingspoint (that's where they all come from in the street) my boyfriend just finished his first year there and is in the Navy now and he was involved in parades and stuff all during that week.

And yes, in case you were wondering, he is gorgeous, especially in whites.  I went to the June ball this year for graduation commencement at the academy and was SURROUNDED by hotties in their uniform whites.  and they were so polite too!  I'm sorry about the babbling, but I can't get enough of military men.  I guess I just have a weakness for a man in uniform...

My boyfriend is in the Navy reserve and just about to be deployed in a few days.  I think doing crafts would be a constructive (not to mention fun) way of keeping me busy at home and keeping my morale up.  I miss him dearly and I was wondering if any of you had situations similar to mine and any advice or craft ideas to give me.  Anything at all would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks a lot!

Wow.... all I can say is wow... to both of the bags.  I am in awe.

I loved the movie but my boyfriend recently took me to see it on Broadway and now we are both hopelessly addicted to Phantom of the Opera.  Thank you for feeding my addiction, I think I'm going to go drool now.

Hey I'm 17 years old and I love that song and the Talking Heads!  Awesome shirt. My dad has raised me on good music unto the point of which I basically reject all modern music.  The Talking Heads are amazing.  I love them. and great shirt!  I think I will copy you and your fantastic shirt, but no one my age will get the reference, just the same because I like weird music.
