1  Arizona / Arizona: Central / Where to buy Bookbinding tape in Arizona? on: October 19, 2009 03:40:07 PM
I live in Gilbert, so... as close to there as possible, but where the heck is it? I cannot find bookbinding tape anywhere locally and I just cannot afford shipping charges. I really need it in black, but for later projects I'll need a multitude of colors.
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Please, please, I need help with a pattern! on: April 21, 2009 04:52:26 PM
I need help... if anyone knows of any patterns for an 18 inch doll, I could really use the help!

I'm trying to make a doll for my friend based on her character Raphael. http://usera.imagecave.com/Angel-Julie/Plushies_OC_Ref/Raphael.jpg

I have the doll made:

But the clothes are giving me trouble... Specifically the boots and the coat... The gloves are easy, the shirt and pants I have patterns for, the belt I am making out of leather, clay and paint. It is an 18 inch doll, here are the dimensions.
Doll Measurements: (these allows room for hemming, I make the measurements an inch or more bigger than the actual doll)
Inches.
Neck: 9
Chest: 12
Arm: 10
Overarm: 15
Waist: 12
Hips: 12
Inseam: 7 inches
Height: 18 inches!

Arm Width: 6 inches
Leg width: 7 inches
Leg height: 9 inches.

I plan to make the boots and jacket out of suede and leather. Anyone who has any ideas for the boots, or a pattern for a jacket (does not have to be specifically this coat, I am more than willing to make edits! I just need something to start from... my last coat looked pretty bad. Sad) I would greatly appreshiate it!
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: My Labels plus Business Card Tutorial on: March 10, 2009 03:50:19 PM
I love this tutorial!! I was wondering, though, what you did to keep the ink from smearing? I've used it to make labels, but every time they get a drop of water on them, or sweat, or anything, the ink smears horribly! How do you prevent that?

Bumping this. Anyone have any ideas? A finishing spray? Maybe Mod Podge?

I have no artistic abilities off a computer. I CG color constantly, but off the computer... I simply cannot. My right hand is messed up, and I am right handed.

So, to solve this, I print onto the fabric directly from my printer using some paper I found in Joanna's craft store. It's not an iron-on transfer, it is designed to be printed on, then sewn. The problem is, the ink keeps washing off/blurring with the slightest amount of moisture... Is there a way to seal the ink?

Ordinarily, I would just make stencils, but the designs are portraits.

You could try: http://dedredhed.deviantart.com/art/Basic-Plushie-Tut-27954346

I used it, with some alterations, and made: http://ravyncrescent.deviantart.com/art/Plushie-of-Freedom-113679854
