1  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: What can I do with a Butternut Squash? on: June 14, 2007 12:34:12 PM
risotto with butternut squash, mushrooms and sage is beauttiful. You can also make a pumpkin terrine by mashing the boiled flesh with two eggs and double cream and then baking it.
Another idea is using it to make gnocchi, which I've never tried but I'm sure would be good.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: help me with my book project on Coco Chanel!! on: February 12, 2006 08:05:08 AM
you could make a paper (or fabric) 2.55 bag and have a fact on all the items put in it (lipstick, mirror, perfume etc.).
I have a couple of geeky facts on Coco Chanel that you probably already know but..
- The stairs at the Chanel headquarters are outlined in back because Coco was short sighted and otherwise could not see where she was going.
- The 2.55 bag was named so because it was created in february 1955.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Eye Patches - Please help me! on: October 12, 2005 01:01:25 PM
Oh man- i cant push away the vision of an eyepatch fully covered in sequins!

that's a brilliant idea!! I want one myself. I think I'm going to make her a few- one with a winking eye and one with a pirate skull on (her idea, she has a good sense of humour). Thanks so much for the replies everyone.  Grin
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Eye Patches - Please help me! on: October 11, 2005 11:53:00 AM
My best friend is having a major eye operation just before christmas and will have to wear an eye patch for about two weeks after. I've promised I'll make her some more trendy eye patches, and whilst I can sew, I have no idea how to go about making a pattern for a (single) eye patch and also, the material most comfortable to wear as an eye patch. Does anyone have any ideas or could point me in the direction of a pattern?
Thanks alot!  Wink
6  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: Sex & The City Top on: October 10, 2005 12:05:25 PM
i'd suggest not putting the third section (lowest) of the top on, just because it will be a nightmare working out the pattern. Perhaps try and get a pattern for a camisole that does up in the middle. That will make life much easier because adding that shape on the end shouldnt effect the pattern at all. The only suggestion I'd make is to make a facing for the overlapping shape, it will look much more proffesional, and a curvy edge is hard to hem.

p.s. look at my blog which is based on fashion. (Couldn't help it  Wink )

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Wedding wishbowl as a guestbook? on: September 07, 2005 04:40:09 AM
That reminds me of my sister's wedding. They had those embossed paper tablecloths on the guest's tables, and put crayons out  for people to write & draw their wishes on the table.

I think I might try this now. I'd be so tempted to wear it backwards.  Smiley
