1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Sun jar with tut on: December 29, 2009 04:10:01 PM
So for christmas, I wanted to make my sister a sun jar, since they cost a fortune, and I'm poor Tongue

So here's how it went!

Stuff you need:
Solar powered garden light

Glass frosting spray (or snow spray if you can't find any)

A reasonable sized glass jar

Start off by twisting off the clear plastic spike thing, leaving you with simply the solar powered part and the LED

Ohh glowing!

Next, attack the jar with your frosting spray or snow spray. Try to get an even, light coating, so the light isn't too dim.

Now, you've got the basics. The hardest part is finding a way to put the light inside the jar. I ended up using a small clear plastic jar (with a hole punched in the top for the LED), turned upside down to keep the solar panel in the sunlight. This meant the LED was facing down, so I put a few small mirrors on the bottom to reflected the light. Now screw on the lid and ta-da! Now just wait for darkness and your jar will glow. The light isn't as bright as commercial sun jars, more of a soft gentle glow, but still awesome!

C&C appreciated!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Um? Totally lost! on: November 29, 2009 07:35:51 PM
Alright so I'm on holiday at the moment, stuck at home sick. So I decided to try teach myself to crochet. Well...I can do a line, but thats all. My internet is too slow atm to watch videos and I simply cannot understand how to do anything else!

Anyone got any really dumbed down tutorials? I'm just looking to even do a little square face cloth?

Thanks to ANYONE who can help!
3  COOKING / Dessert / TARDIS Birthday Cake on: November 22, 2009 12:09:37 AM
So, for my 18th birthday, I somehow managed to get the job of making myself a birthday cake, and here it is! Its chocolate sponge, filled with chocolate ganache, topped with marshmallow fondant. First time for both the filling and the fondant.

I made it in about 1 1/2 hours, so I'm pretty impressed. That includes cooling time etc.

I put a few chocolate Darleks around the side too Smiley

I never actually ate any of it, so have no clue if it was good or not lol but it impressed my friends!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Dyeing hook and eye help? on: November 21, 2009 10:25:32 PM
Right, so I'm making a corset out of scraps of blue material, and I found a vintage hook and eye thing a the op shop, in cream. Anyways, what I wanted to know is is there anyway to dye the material without having to buy proper clothing dye (since it would be a waste on such a small piece of material...)

Thanks in advance guys!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / you've got red on you... on: September 03, 2009 02:24:46 AM
Well, to try out the stencils I received in my crayola swap (thanks again goldfish!), I made myself a ZOMBIE TOTE!

Just played it by air, something to carry around all my junk in Smiley I quite like how rough it is, very 'I'm fighting zombies, just made this in my spare time' kinda look.

I might add more detail later, maybe a severed hand or something?

sorry, I did rotate the second image, I think photobucket just hates me? Tongue

6  COOKING / Dessert / Oh the pain... on: September 03, 2009 02:18:06 AM
Well, today I found out my best friends parents are splitting up. She was devistated at school, and I couldn't stand seeing her so down (she's the happy person in our group of friends) so I quickly whipped these up.
Me, I'm a total Twilight hater, so it felt wrong making these, but I hope she enjoys them! I used her favourite cookie recipe, which made icing hard as the middles kinda collapse in, but still, I think she'll get a giggle out of them! Smiley

Be safe

Team Edward (her team, obviously)

C&C is appreciated!

p.s I know, icing is not my forte!

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / zombie swap #5 on: May 26, 2009 07:55:50 PM
Well, since I consider myself very 'in' with all things zombies (I even did my English speech on them) I was wondering.....

Who's up for round 2?!  Grin (I mean...5, btw, just had to throw that ice age quote in there)

Anyone? Living or dead is welcome!
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Criminal minds? on: March 31, 2009 09:10:31 PM
Right, I know this has been suggested before but there HAS to be people here wanting to do a CM swap? It may take some thinking but I though anything CM inspired, private jokes between CM watchers or anything?

Anyone at all interested?
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Cheer up swap? on: March 04, 2009 12:29:23 AM
Right so I know I'm new and can't do a swap yet, but I thought a cool idea would be a cheer up theme. I have depression, so I often need cheering up, and I thought this would be a cool thing for us all to do so we can look at our swap gifts when we're down  Grin

Feedback? Smiley
