I did it!! I saw this pattern and thought wow this is AMAZING. And the tutorial is very well done as well. I messed up a couple of things because I never really sew ever. But thank you, I will use this all the time.

4  who says finals cant be fun? in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by laurynn1060 on: June 14, 2006 03:39:24 PM
so for the spanish final this year we were learning about frida khalo and stuff so we had to basically make a self portrait of ourself whether it be a painting, sculputre, or anything and describe its meaning in spanish. So i decided to do a collage. It is actully a big collage of little collages.

here is the whole body

heres just the head

i used magazines for the face then yarn for the hair

arm #1 the sewing collage, the background is a sewing pattern from who knows what and i put the word sewing on a saftey pin and used yarn darners and such

main body... its just a plain background and i added wierd clippings from magazines to make it so much cooler

arm #2 i found the sweet place setting ad in a martha stewart magazine, and then i took leaves from outside and put them on the plate... its a mighty good looking salad

leg #1.. its basically a background of nature and a flower clipping in front

groin area... I had an old encyclopedia from which i made a bag out of the covers so the inside was all s words. I found the word song and made it the background for the music collage. I also cut a guitar shape out of sheet music and used manuscript paper to write music..

leg #2 for this i found a beach painting in a magazine and used shells

5  Re: big slouchy green flowered bag! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by laurynn1060 on: June 04, 2006 01:26:43 PM
Ok tutorial....

Materials:
outside fabric
inside fabric
medium interfacing
Handle stuff (idk what its called its like heavy duty ribbon.. sometimes used on backpacks)
zipper
buckle
and plastic rings

1. first you make a pattern... mine was around 14 inches as the opening and just kind of made it according to that. then with this pattern cut out 2 of the outside fabric, 2 of the inside fabric, and 2 of the interfacing

2. then you need to make the piece of fabric that connects the 2 sides. for mine i made it go from 2 inches on the ends to around 4 in the middle.. the wider you make it, the fatter the bag will be. of this you need to cut out 1 of the outside fabric, 1 of the inside fabric, and 1 of the interfacing.

3. apply all interfacing to the wrong side of the outside fabric.

4. then with wide stitching on a sewing machine attach the wrong side of the inside fabric to the interfacing. on both sides and the long piece that connects them.

5. cut all sides so everything is the same size. make sure no interfacing or other fabric shows.

6. attach sides to the conecting long piece inside out so that when it is turned right side out it looks nice.

7. turn down freyed edges so it looks nice

8. attach zipper

9. attach little pieces of ribbon stuff to a plastic ring and to the bag and then attach the handle as long as you want to the plastic ring so that it stays.

10. theres your bag!

7  oh crap... next week is 6 months! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by laurynn1060 on: June 03, 2006 07:51:50 PM
so following my last post.. i have made my boyfriend some other cute things, a stool, picture frame and others but i decided to do something a little different..
It is a box with reasons I love him..
I started out with a shoe box.

then i painted it all blue...

then i came up with 100 reasons why i love him and wrote them all on index cards...

then on the top i cut out letters and used stamps...

then on the sides, and inside the box i used mod podge and put pictures of us and songs and such.

and then once it dried it was complete!

so hopefully any time he is feeling in the dumps then he could just open this box and pick out a reason and feel happy!

8  10 minutes, and no sew skirt! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by laurynn1060 on: June 01, 2006 04:53:40 PM
So.. ive seen shirt skirts online before but i thought id give it a twist..

so i went to target and the cheapest men's shirt was like 8 bucks.. pretty good but that was only for an XL the XXL was like 2 dollars more..

So I bought 2 shirts, 2 different sizes, one an XL (the yellow) and one a L (the green) but I dont think it really mattered.

Then I stretched the neck to go over my waist.

Then I took it off, and cut up the seams.

I did this with both shirts then I realized that it was long and i looked like crap.

Then I desided to cut another couple of inches off each one, didnt measure or anything, just estimated, and that gives it that freyed-ish look. but make sure one is longer then the other

Then i just put both of them on and tada!

Enjoy

9  regular old stool to a photo montage! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by laurynn1060 on: March 17, 2006 02:12:01 PM
i dont think i used the word montage correctly.. but oh well its a cool word

so my boyfriend and i just shared 3 months together and i made him this stool because I went to his house and he didnt have enough chairs so I thought this would help.

first I bought a stool at Target it was like $15

then i painted it all green (sry no picture here forgot but you will get the idea)
I then added some blue accents so it would match better..

then i mod podged... some pictures of us

enjoy!

10  oh crap... today marks one month!! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by laurynn1060 on: January 10, 2006 07:07:57 PM
So yea.. my newly bf was like hah guess what tomorrow is one month.. (yea i didnt think it was that important) but i didnt want to leave him hanging so i made something really quick..

so did the whole tin box deal.. found a mint box...

by the way. those are the best mints ever!!!

i painted the top black.. so you wouldnt see it.. and wrote his name on it.. sry no pictures

so that was the inside..

instead of painting that part also i just covered it with pictures of us...

and added magnets that say best friend.. (yea he is my bf but before we were going out we made a best friend handshake, corny i know, but it was good...)

then sry i was stupid and forgot to take pictures..

but on the bottom i added a green piece of construction paper and painted lines on it (to symbolize a football field) because we met in marching band.. so yea it was cool

and around the edges on the inside, i added movie tickets to the movies we went to.. rent, producers, and saw 2. yea it was cool.

i also added some fortunes because whenever i order chinese it never comes to the right house.. and he laughs at me for it..

i added a poem and such..

but all in all he tells me he cant stop looking at it.. so i guess i pulled it off..

thank goodness!
