I had this vintage-like pepsi fabric and yellow plastic handles laying around for almost a year, but some days ago I finally got my hands on to make the handbag I had been thinking of:




This was made completely from scratch and hand-sewn, and I think it turned out quite good for a first time!

I live in Chile and as summer is finally here, wearing plastic flower hair accesories is getting very trendy. And as I wanted to stay trendy in my own crafty style, I made some felt ones!

Hey everyone!!
This is my 1st post and my 1st project, so I' very excited! Well, I've made easy stuff before, like pencil cases out of old t-shirts and stuff..... but i reallyyyyy wanted to make one of those super cute felt monsters. First, I wanted to try something like the ones seen here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=17253.0 but I wanted more detail and stuff.
As it was my 1st project of this kind EVER, I decided to try something easier first. I was so impacient to make something that I ddin't even get real felt, I used a bag thing I had which was made of felt-like material, but it was lighter. First, I wanted to make a smiley. But I thought it was gonna be TOO easy, so I decided to make a star. I ddin't want to, because here where I live it's crowded of stupid kids who think wearing pins with stars with cute faces is emo, and that pisses me off a LOT, but I did it anyway. And I must admit, I LOVE the way it turned out!!! I look at it and I can't believe I made it myself! Maybe its not that great, but it's the firts thing I've made so I'm super excited.

And as my name is Fran, I sewed a bead with an F on the star; it's an idea I got form the link I posted above:

Well aaah I'm still all excited about it, so mind if I write a short description of the steps I took?

First, before drawing the shape on the material, I did it on a piece of paper, and I'm glad I came up with that idea because the first star shapes turned out very deformed, hehe. As the material was thin, its easy to see through it, so I just put it over the star I drew and copied it. Then I made the face and sewed the bead, and then started to sew both pieces (front and back) together. Oh yeah, everything was HAND SEWN because I don't have a sewing mahcine, hehe.
Anyway, I stuffed it with this weird thing my mom once bought to clean something...... I have no idea of it's name in english (I speak spanish), but it looks like a soft mix of cotton and small pieces of white fabric. I like it because now the star is all fluffy I love itttttt !!!!! I want to take it everywhere with me haha, but I was also thinking about giving it to my boyfriend -if he likes it- or something....

Yeah well, sorry for the huge stupid message, but I seriously am excited about how cute my first project turned out; and I'm sure I'm not the only one who got all excited after seeing my 1st project finished...... Can't wait to start making monsters!!!!
