A teammate is having a baby, and I made her a derby onesie for bringing her spawn to the bouts. This is my first embroidery project, and I am so excited at how it turned out! The weird pucker around the edges is the backing I sewed on at the last minute, realizing that babies might not like a bunch of knots rubbing against the chest. Next time I'll know, eh?

Yarn: Moda Dea Cache, in that blu color that's always on sale. 3 skeins.

Needles:10 1/2, strap in single crochet, also size 10 1/2.

Pattern: I bought SnB Happy Hooker. I loved the "Fat Bottom Bag", but I didn't like the way it was turning out. So I made it a knit instead. And I gave it a strap instead of the wooden handles. And a button closure, because I like shiny red buttons. Voila!



The color may be a bit washed out, but it shows my favorite part- the sparkly gold filament woven in with the yarn!

What a Christmas! I asked my family to save them since I started making purses/belts out of 'em, and my uncle Mike set up a collection bin at the high school where he works. What, dear crafters, do I do with this? I like the idea of making lots of stuff to sell, but I also get bored easily. I deas?

As a brand new roller-girl working my way into the ranks of Tucson derby elite, I'd looove some roller-skate themed crafty stuff. Anyone else with a case of quad-love?

So my BF is an art school grad with some serious craft-phobia. Other than that, we get along fine. Imagine my surprise when I came home to see him cutting up an old, busted pair of cargo pants to make a purse satchel! He sewed the two cargo pockets together and attached the waistband to make a strap. He needed more length, so he used some of the leftover material to extend the strap, and just happened to find a bag of buttons on his way home from the bar that night! What luck! There is also a backing, to be used as a magazine pouch.

My halloween costume!!!!
5 yards red tulle, 2 yards red grosgrain ribbon, and 2 yards stretchy newsprint fabric from the dollar bin.
Tube top plus "circle" skirt (actually a square with the corners pulled up and fastened with safety pins and red ribbon.)
Add a beer tab belt for kicks.
Stencil "LIES!" across the top.
Make a statement about responsible media consumption?
Nah. Well, kinda.
