1  I did it! I have created *Dun Dun Dunnnnnn* A cloth diaper! (Only links to pics) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by achug05 on: December 28, 2009 12:08:56 PM
After many ugly attempts, I have finally created a cloth diaper. (Pocket style, sz small)

I have no babies, but I'm fascinated with the idea of cloth diapering - and they're so easy to make that I wanted to try. Well, I created my own pattern, gathered my materials at Hancock (I love hancock!) and went to work!

3 layers: Outer - Flannel lined w/2nd layer - PUL, inside is a soft fleece - should feel good on baby's bum.

Despite the fact that there are many imperfections like the fact that I am not capable of sewing perfectly straight, the elastic didn't do exactly what I wanted it to do, I got the wrong size velcro, the back straps are too long/thick, and my welt pocket is less than awesome - it is FULLY FUNCTIONAL. With the soaker, it can hold 3/4 cup of water without leaking!! (Provided you don't squeeze it.)What baby pees that much?

Any ideas on what material to use for soakers? I would like to sew some. I used a knock off sham wow w/a microfiber towel folded in 3s. I don't know if that is normal - do people really use sham wow on baby bottoms? Not too bullky lookin' though.

I say SUCCESS! I should be good enough to where I can sell them soon!

Now to find a baby to experiment on... Anyone interested? Smiley
