1  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / A new addiction--glassblowing on: February 22, 2014 01:39:25 PM
My husband and I took his daughter to a local glassblowing studio for her birthday. She made a stemless wineglass with dark green and yellow. I made a starfish paperweight with apple green and turquoise.

Enjoy!
2  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Tiger mosaic on: November 28, 2013 08:29:14 AM
I thought I had posted this earlier, but I can't find it on this board! A customer asked me to make a tiger for her and this is what I came up with. I agonized for a long time over what background to use.

Enjoy!
3  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Elephant mosaic in fused glass on: November 26, 2013 04:41:33 PM
I made this for a friend because we have a shared respect and admiration for elephants. It measures approximately 11 inches square. The background is aventurine blue, but it's actually more of a very pretty blue green.

I pulled these two pieces out of the kiln this morning.

5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Rescued bowl - Red Menace no more! on: September 19, 2013 02:29:44 PM
This bowl was uh... problematic. The glass originally started out as a plate made of beautiful shades of ambers and oranges; when fired, they struck scarlet and red. I dubbed this plate "the red menace" and put it on my shelf of despair. After a while, I made my own frit piston thingy, crushed the glass up, and cast it in a Colour de Verre flower mold. Everything was fine until I slumped it in the cone shaped bowl mold and it picked up some kiln wash. I tried everything to get the kiln wash off, to no avail. I then discovered the magic of LimeAway for removing kiln wash, then I etched the entire surface with etching creme cuz it wasn't shiny enough, and finally put it back in the mold. (Okay, there's more to this story: for some reason this mold decided to stop accepting kiln wash, so I broke down and bought MR-97. Miracle!) All in all, after many trials and tribulations, I think it turned out pretty well!

6  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Experimenting with Opaline on: August 07, 2013 03:14:04 PM
I bought some opaline glass a while ago and just got around to experimenting with it. Here's the result of layering it on transparent glass. Enjoy!

7  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Fused Glass Miniatures on: July 20, 2013 07:32:15 AM
I've been doing a lot of these recently. Guess I've developed a sudden fascination with streaky glass! The images are painted with Glassline paints (which are now marketed as Glassline pens). Enjoy!

8  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Abstract butterfly on: July 06, 2013 08:31:48 AM
This is made with a base of Bullseye and Uroboros frit. Measures approximately 5 inches square. Enjoy!

9  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Using up scrap glass--wall pockets on: June 30, 2013 01:40:17 PM
I was trying to use up some of my scrap glass and this is what I made with the transparent. Enjoy!

10  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Kiln club challenge #2 on: June 16, 2013 12:37:16 PM
Today my kiln club met and I brought the little sculpture I had made (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=424159.0#axzz2WPRT2SBG) as well as another piece I made yesterday and pulled out of the kiln this morning. The challenge was to use scrap glass and I made this small piece out of the rolled end of glass sheets:

It measures 3 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches. I have lots of rolled ends leftover but mostly greens. Maybe I'll make a larger one to hang horizontally. Enjoy!
