121  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / How do you get a design from the computer, onto the machine? on: March 20, 2009 01:03:49 PM
I've found those sites where you can get free designs, but how do I get them onto the machine from there?  I have a Brother SE270D

sorry if this is a dumb question... so far Ive only really used my machine for sewing names onto things.
122  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Soap bath crayons on: February 28, 2009 09:36:08 PM
I cant get them to work!  Angry

I made some with food coloring, and ivory soap which I grated with the cheese grater - The food color didnt really mix in very well, and the soap 'shreads' didnt seem to want to stick together.  I ended up with shreddy looking colored soaps, which wouldnt write on the walls at all.

Maybe I needed to use a very fine grater?  something else to dye the soap with?

Anyone know how to make these and actually have them work?

123  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Felt food - grapes on: February 27, 2009 10:02:48 PM
I can't figure out how to make grapes!   I want a bunch of grapes, not a bunch of little ones (I made little strawberries and my son actually ate them, so I guess I cant make things that small!)
I tried to do it, but can't figure out how to make it look like individual grapes and not just a purple blob.
124  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / A lot of questions on: February 22, 2009 02:22:31 PM
How do I find a craft fair near me, that doesnt cost a crazy amount to sign up for?  And how do I figure out if it will be one that will make sense for me to sell at? (I mostly sell baby and kids things, the last fair I did ended up being mostly old men attending!)
How do I choose which of my items to sell?
Is it better to have a few of a bunch of different items, or lots of just a few items or all one thing or what?
Should I stick with only baby/kid stuff, or put in some items for adults too?
How do you put prices on things?  (use a little sticker or have people ask for prices or what?)
What about customs?  A lot of the things I make are custom orders, should I be offering those at craft fairs or stick with in-stock stuff?

Heres my website to give an idea of some of the stuff I make (not everything is there tho!) www.rootsandwings.w eb.officelive.com

At my last craft fair, I made $1  Sad and there were a lot of people there, but it was a cold day for here.  I was right next to the food too!
The one before that I made $50, and there were hardly any shoppers (like 20 people)
125  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Wings ? on: February 22, 2009 11:27:21 AM
How do I make some 'wings'  for ds to play with?

Not the kind with wire in them, Im thinking they will attach to his wrists and somehow in the middle, and sort of 'flow out' behind him when he runs around.... I cant figure it out tho!
126  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Dress up clothes on: February 22, 2009 11:25:05 AM

127  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / hooded bath towel? on: February 22, 2009 11:21:42 AM
I want to make a toddler size towel, with a hood, that looks like a puppy (so the ears/face is on the hood, and a tail at the back)

any ideas on how I should go about doing this project?

129  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Magic Box Elite software on: February 12, 2009 08:41:29 PM
I bought one second hand, and it didnt come with the disk for it!  I tried their website, emailing etc - the only thing they have is the 'upgrade' which is REALLY expensive (I spent 100 on my machine + the box, I cant afford software that costs more than that did!)

Anyone know where to get it or have an extra copy?
