51  *WE ARE THE WORLD* record album purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by artzyfartzy on: September 01, 2004 08:14:35 AM
I make so many sewn bags that I decided to try my hand at something different ...ugh!! my first record album purse!  what a total pain!!!  but it's finished!  Grin

Web-Goddess has a helpful tutorial to make an album cover purse.  The next time I make one I think I'll have it professionally laminated, I have no patience with contact paper!  Huh

i live in a duplex, white walls! i hate white walls! look:

boy i'd love to get rid of that fake wood gold plated fan too! - landlord lives next door  Huh

here's some pix of other views near this wall

as u can tell, i'm not afraid of color, i'd love to be able to paint, but not allowed.  wish i could think of some temp solution for more color on the walls tho.  Undecided

Please bombard me with ideas!!!! thanks! Grin

53  Re:Refinishing a picture frame in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by artzyfartzy on: January 21, 2004 05:41:58 AM
Ok, this is reallllly an old post ..u probably already finished your frame - but I thought i'd reply anyways ...

I redid a thrift store find that was the same thing. sorta...no flowers ..but somewhat of a textured fancy edge [ see pic ]

I sanded the old paint off slightly [ I didnt sand even all of it..just until the frame felt smooth ...... and I was careful around the inset where the design is.  ( I would take the lowest grade sandpaper around the flowers and use the corner of the sand paper to get it the grooves ) I cleaned it , made sure it was dry and sprayed it with 3 coats of silver spray paint.

The inside is even the cardboard I was using to spray paint on! it had a neat look to it from being randomly sprayed, so I just cut it to fit the frame and put..yup..

A picture of Archie + Edith from All in the Family. I'm an Archie Bunker fanatic.  crazy enough this pic is in my bedroom!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just been using TACKY GLUE on some really small pieces.  It works really well.  I glued some butterfly images to illustration board then used an exacto knife to cut them out.  I painted the back and edges black then varnished the whole thing.  I then spread a thin layer of TACKY GLUE over the image and sprinkled on the glitter beads.  I Let it sit for a few minutes then carefully tapped off the excess.

this scan doesn't do it justice!

the coverage isn't always perfect, but they all look great nonetheless.

it looks GREAT! i would of been scared of small things because i tried doing the microbeads-thing to my "turtles-in-love" logo..but i guess the image had too many details..it didnt look good.  Sad  ...ii've been making some other stuff too..i gotta scan some stuff .. tacky glue is just plain ole glue right?...can u tell i dont know my glues well Wink..

the butterflie is gorgeous!
