22  I'm a teddy bear Mom! in Crochet: Completed Projects by artzyfartzy on: February 04, 2009 09:41:51 AM
This mobile phone pic doesn't do justice to the newly crocheted hat I made for my son:

Adding ears to his hat seems to make him more apt to keep it on so he can show off to people.   Wink Thanks for looking.........

23  Re: Turtle Bread! in Recipes and Cooking Tips by artzyfartzy on: January 29, 2009 11:42:16 AM
i made a turtle bread yesterday with my 12 year old daughter, we had fun doing this together:

During cooking one of the eyeballs fell off and i had to do "surgery" (by poking the bread and shoving it back on!)  to get it to stay on for at least taking a pic. When i made the shell the dough rose in the oven and shifted so it looks lopsided!  Your turtle is much cuter! Oh well, we still loved making him! Any suggestions for keeping the limbs on? i followed the recipe and they were still very close to falling off too?  What am I doing wrong?

24  My gingerbread men! in Dessert by artzyfartzy on: January 06, 2009 11:07:49 AM
I bought the pre-made cookie dough for these.  I'm glad I did because I never realized how much work gingerbread cookies are to decorate!  I will never again use frosting for the eyes and mouth.. next time perhaps I'll opt for red hots.   Wink

25  Robots in love handmade journal / book (img heavy) in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by artzyfartzy on: April 09, 2008 11:03:02 AM
Here's a journal I made showcasing some rubber stamps I scored off of Ebay:

I lightly sandpapered the avocado green cover.  I used plain white, orange & pink construction paper for the inside.  I also recycled one of my husband's old Aviation handbooks and threw in some cool pages of airplane diagrams and stuff.  I'd love to know what you think!

((( I hope this in the right category! ..)))

This is a real teeny book 'charm' ( I added a little loop so I can wear it on a necklace ) -- its bound just like a big book would be. Wink

any comments appreciated!

Here's a link to a bunch of downloads for box measurements if anybody wants to try this.

29  crocheted rag rug in Crochet: Completed Projects by artzyfartzy on: October 04, 2007 06:41:22 AM
a recent finished project. I'd love to know what you think of my new rug  Smiley

http://images.etsy.com/all_images/e/e75/83d/il_430xN.12208960.jpg

The rug measures about 33" across.  I did not really follow a pattern at all.  I just single crocheted in the round.  I think I started by chaining 6 & then I joined with a slip stitch to form a ring.  From there I just single crocheted like you would if you were making a hat or amigurumi and increased my stitches here & there ( I didn't even keep track of rows ) I just eyeballed it and made sure it was laying flat every few rows.

To make the yarn I starting tearing about a 1 1/2" strip but stopped ripping about 1-2 inches from the end & then repeated this process again on the other side while keeping the first strip connected. I repeated this step until I had one long continuous strip. This elimated any sewing to join strips or countless knotting of each single strip. When I needed to join another color I just knotted the two strips together.

ETA: there is a little more info about the rug on page 3 of this thread Wink & I added a few more ramblings above this picture
