11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Mucha Moon Pendant & Bracelet on: July 25, 2011 05:30:26 PM
Inspired by Helena Puck's beautiful Alice in Wonderland bamboo tile bracelet found here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=384066.0, I found some bamboo tiles online (for super cheap too!) and decided on Alphonse Mucha's The Moon painting (a favorite if you couldn't tell). Instead of a single image for each tile, I chose to section the picture for the entire bracelet.

So I made this for my partner in the Dia de los Muertos swap and I love it so much, I'm gonna have to do another for myself...

13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / My First Pendant Necklace on: June 16, 2011 12:08:37 AM
So I got inspired while I was trolling around here and went to my local bead shop down the street to browse. And what did I find but the awesomest mixes of differently sized seed beads that I couldn't resist. So I thought, what kind of pendant would be appropriate for these beautiful beads and there really was no better answer than a photo pendant of the boy closest to my heart. So here it is!

I made sure to tape up the photo with clear packing tape first to "laminate" it and then used diamond glaze to glue/seal it and a plastic bubble cabochon thingy. I randomly strung the beads and then used a magnetic clasp, which is surprisingly strong!

I had so much fun making it, that I did two more pendants, another of my son and the last of Alphonse Mucha's The Moon:

Okay so this is nowhere near as intricate as his cuts but he's really inspired me to try my hand at papercutting. And I LOVE it!

15  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Streeeeeetchy Fleece and Satin Binding on: February 02, 2011 02:16:18 PM
Okay so I am making a little baby blanket for my newest nephew and I'm using this really fun monkeys and bananas super-soft fleece and I want to put a yellow satin blanket binding around the edges. I am pretty beginner in my sewing machine skillz and I'm just wondering if there's anything I should know going into this before I start stitching. I have some polyester thread that I was planning to use as well. Does all this sound okay?

Thanks!!!

Hi all! I'm a newbie here but not to knitting. I've been knitting for about 2.5 years, ever since I sat my MIL down and had her teach me.  Grin
This is a belated Christmas gift for my SIL.
