1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Pressing straight to get perfect seams on: October 04, 2012 01:40:59 PM
Patience I am sorely lacking but I may have a metal ruler stored in the back of something... somewhere. Wink
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Pressing straight to get perfect seams on: October 02, 2012 04:51:44 PM
I am making this bag and I am using white linen in place of the black upholstery fabric. I'm at the stage where I have pressed the four edges of the casings and am to sew the bottom edge to the main bag fabric. However, when I go to sew the bottom edge, it is glaringly crooked. Instead of a nice, crisp, pressed edge, it has waves in it and looks horrible.
Does anyone have any tips to get it nice and straight when pressing so that I can get a clean edge?  Huh
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Cuffs and Lots of 'Em!! Yaay! on: September 11, 2012 01:08:10 PM

Wow, that's amazing! You got some really good color distribution too, love the pink/black combo.
5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: The Very Hungry Caterpillar on: September 11, 2012 01:03:26 PM
This is jaw-droppingly beautiful! The colors are a perfect match too, bcz all I saw on the front page was a couple body segments, and I KNEW it had to be the Hungry Caterpillar. Awesome!
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / HEEELP!!! Sewing Tension is Causing Tension Grrr on: March 18, 2012 01:11:45 PM

Shocked So I have a Brother sewing machine very similar to this one. This is the first time for me sewing knits and using a zigzag stitch and I can't seem to get the tension right. Angry
I've re-threaded both the top thread and the bobbin, adjusted the upper thread tension from 4.5 to 0 back to 6 and I keep getting the same results. The bobbin thread is poking up from underneath and the top thread then dosesn't zigzag but is straight, with the bobbin creating little half-rungs (is this clear?). I've looked in my manual to see if I can adjust the presser foot pressure but I can't (someone from work said when sewing knits you should have a very light presser foot pressure).

Any thoughts on whatelse might be the matter?
Thanks!  Kiss
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Mod Podge Didn't Work on: March 08, 2012 07:44:10 PM
So I have a copy of van Gogh's Starry Starry Night on paper that I wanted to mount onto a stretched canvas and then paint over. I got out the mod podge, slathered it on the canvas, patted the picture down and then proceeded to apply more mod podge but it warped and wrinkled like crazy. I've not used mod podge all that much but I thought this would be the ideal project for it.

My question is: what would you use for this project?

This. More of this is what I need in life. I think I'm close to being buried by my stash of assorted supplies. *sigh* Can't wait to see everyone's projects!!
