11  Re: Dia de los Muertos / Mexican Folk Art Swap GALLERY (send outs 5/30) in The Swap Gallery by VegasZombie on: June 05, 2011 01:20:48 PM
Due to her camera not cooperating, I am posting pictures of what I sent to humboldtcherry.   Wink

Virgen de Guadalupe candle with added sparkle. She had mentioned that she liked iconography.

Figurine - this was one of those wedding ones that I kind of had my way with. It was the first one I had ever done & I wasn't happy with the way the face turned out.  Undecided

Bracelet - deconstructed and reconstructed to be much nicer.

My poor attempt at a shrine. ha ha This was actually the second one I did as the first suffered a horrible fate. The sacred heart & skull are poly clay made by moi. The other items are actually jewelry bits. I also used entirely too much glitter paint.

Then there were these Virgen de Guadelupe dish towels.

I neglected to take a picture of it, but I also included a small packet of Mexican hot cocoa.  Smiley

I received my super wonderful package from humboldtcherry this weekend!

First, a nice young lady from her quilting guild gave her something to include in my box. It goes perfectly with the other knickknacks on my desk at work.  Grin

The first thing I pulled out of the box thrilled me to pieces. A calavera print pillow (with dingle balls *giggle*)!

Next were an altered figurine and a ghoulie tombstone. Both of which currently reside on one of the bookshelves in my craft room.  Cheesy

Now, please to prepare your little wisting fingers!
The best doll ever! Not only does it indulge my secret love of ragdolls, it is also voodoo & New Orleans themed! It is hard to tell, but she is wearing a very voodoo-esque top & skirt in Bourbon Street print! Also, the stitching on her face is impeccable. As if that weren't enough, I am totally jealous of her hair. I want hair just like hers!  Grin

I have never been so happy to receive something. It has been a really bad couple of months for me and this really did thrill me to no end. I shouldn't admit this, but I cried when I pulled the doll out of the box. It reminded me of when my mom and great grandmother used to make me dolls.

Thank you again humboldtcherry! In case no one has told you today..... YOU ARE AWESOME!!

13  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 69 gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by VegasZombie on: May 14, 2011 11:04:49 AM
I received a great little box from lindyv321!

I was claimed for hoopla, but she included so much more!

Jewelry parts & pieces which I can always use, fabric flowers she made and a postcard from the Phoenix Zoo. I have a postcard board at work so it will taking its place there on Monday. She also included a small notebook that I neglected to photograph. I should probably have another cup of coffee or three.

Mustache hoops! I loves them! They will be the first official hooplas I have for my collection.

Thank you sooooo much Lindy! You are the bestest!

14  Lace flower hair clips in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by VegasZombie on: April 19, 2011 09:46:02 PM
I made these for the Crafty Detective Swap.

The lace was originally cream. When I dyed my test piece I let it sit for a little over an hour. However, when I rinsed it most of the dye came out. I chalk that up to the lace being old and a poly blend. So, when I dyed it again I let it sit for two days. The color came out much better than anticipated.

I used this tutorial http://alyashcreations.blogspot.com/2010/05/see-it-again-saturday-little-lace.html to put them together.

This was before I put the centers in which were rhinestone buttons I found by chance at Joann's.

And after I put the center in.

15  Texas Needle Book in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by VegasZombie on: April 17, 2011 09:54:20 PM
I made this for one of the Ongoing Wish Swaps. Probably one of the things I am most proud of so far as it is the first thing I made without a pattern. Of course once I was finished with it I knew there were things I could do better for next time, but none the less...

Felt piece work and everything with the exception of the pages was sewn by hand.

The mystery package was indeed full of crafty goodness (there was some speculation as to whom it was from).

First up, a loverly trio of items that are completely me. Small felted voodoo doll earrings complete with pins, a voodoo doll key chain and a fetching blood splattered I <3 Zombies mug!  I have the perfect outfit for the earrings and the mug will go to work with me.

Then there was this awesome, and I do mean awesome, brain locket. I was just telling someone the other day that I needed one of these. But the best part? When you pop it open there are itty bitty zombies inside!

And last, but certainly not least a necktie purse! The color rocks, the ties rock, the whole thing just rocks. Plus, the strap is long enough for me to sling it.

My swap partner, by the way, was none other than Xandrigirly! I would never have guessed that, but then again I wasn't trying too hard to figure it out. More mental notes on who I know it wasn't.  Cheesy

Thank you soooooooo much Xandrigirly!!! Every last thing is filled with awesome!!

I received an awesome package from Dawl today. Well, it came earlier in the week, but was being held hostage in the office since I can't get there when they are open. It was extra awesome to get something so nice & thoughtful after the week I have been having.

First up: skully bracelet!

Next: Small skull purse & card wallet. Perfect for toting along when I go to shows and the purse even has pockets!

And finally: these made me squee! Two pendants. One with a voodoo doll that reads "Thinking of You" and a zombie that reads "Zombies Love Hugs Too!"

Thank you sooooo very much Dawl! Everything is fantabulous and very, very thoughtful!

I received a great piece of wall art from Eveamlizya today. Well, it actually came on Wednesday I just hadn't had a chance to get to the box.

Malt Shop Skeletons! They will fit right in in their new home.  As you can see the mailperson, in their infinite wisdom, decided to bend the package and shove it in my box. *sigh*  Nothing a couple of occult encyclopedias can't fix.  Grin

AND.... she sent me a True Blood bag!

Thank you sooooo much Eveamlizya!  Everything is covered in awesome sauce!

I received my wisty surprise and supplies today from rlynn!  I am terribly excited so please excuse the use of extraneous exclamation points!!  Cheesy

My Crafty Skull necklace straight from my wist!  She is soooooo awesome!

rlynn also sent a TON of jewelry parts and pieces. I don't know which is going to be more fun: re-purposing some pieces, pulling others apart or making completely new things!

Thank you SOOOO much rlynn! In case no one has told you today, you *really* rock!

I received from edenkitty today! Please excuse the photos on the stove. The Weenus of DOOM! was apparently going to die if he didn't get his mits on the cactus. He jumped around and cried so much he worse himself out.

Meet Stan aka Mr. Angry Cactus who is wist inspired:

He also arrived with several disguises. When you are as angry as he is, everything helps.

I honestly couldn't decide what I wanted this to be - a unibrow or a stache.  Cheesy

This is his favorite.

Apparently he also has a feminine side. Well, I thought he did, then he said something about nature being cruel.  Wink

She also sent some uber awesome Black Phoenix Alchemy imps. I love that place man!

Thank you edenkitty for a super awesome stuffie. I bow to your skills. Seriously.
