111  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re:homemade magnetic poetry on: December 10, 2003 03:14:35 PM
http://www.genuineclass.com/ex_magpoetry.html  has  what seems to be a more kid oriented word list, but it's at least a start

http://www.createdbyteachers.com/dolchlist.html is the Dolch word list used in schools and is a good listing of basic words
112  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re:Glass Marble Magnets on: December 10, 2003 01:57:04 PM
I was just at Michaels and picked up some awesome scrapbooking paper for these!  The paper has little strings of lights on it....how wonderful for little Christmas gifts!  The lights are small enough that you can fit 1-2 lights per marble.  The paper was 39 cents per 8 1/2x11 sheet.  I also picked up some red and green Christmas-ish plaid.  But the lights!  They're so cute on these!
113  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re:Paint light bulbs on: December 10, 2003 01:54:04 PM
You can buy transparent paint for making like a glazed glass look.  That's probably what you're looking for.  Ah now I'm not sure if it can get hot, but the package will answer that.   Good luck!  Smiley
114  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re:Yarn Stiffiner on: December 09, 2003 08:04:56 PM
I've used a strong mixture of sugar and water before.  I didn't use it on yarn, however, only on smaller pieces done in crochet thread.  As soon as you're done spraying it, make sure you rinse out your nozzle and squirting contraption so you can use it again.

Now don't even get me started on the sugar/water hairspray experiment I did when I was 8....   Embarrassed
115  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re:coffee-cinnamon infused bath salts--nice present! on: December 08, 2003 09:39:38 PM
I just did a batch of the coffee-cinnamon salts.  Awesome!  They smell so darn good....almost good enough to eat!  Can't wait to take a bath with these.  I know my friends will love getting these this Christmas.  Thanks for the how-to!
116  CANADA / Alberta / Re:Edmonton? E-town? Anyone? on: December 07, 2003 08:23:18 PM
I read the piece about crafting in the Gateway!  Very few of the people that I know are into crafting like I am, so I was kind of surprised to see a whole feature on it in the university paper.  It was a pleasant surprise!!

This website is also an awesome discovery of mine!  I only wish I had found it at a time when I had more time to spend crafting (rather than studying for final exams).  Oh well....at least now I have a long list of projects to work on during my winter break.

I also find it a bit discouraging that there's not much of a crafting scene for young folks like us here in e-town.  Unfortunately, it seems like everything crafty in this town is geared towards the older generation of crafters.  Which is why I love love love coming here....as well as checking out other sites like not martha, get crafty, etc.  Seems like this shall serve as my crafting scene!  Grin
