2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Interfacing! on: July 11, 2015 07:44:32 AM
Soooo... This will be my first time using interfacing. I googled it but it made it more complicated than it ever was. I currently live in Africa and we don't have that much choice as google tells me about interfacing. Today I could find two choices: one paper like and one cotton. Both has one side fusible BUT I need to sandwich it between two fabrics to make notebook covers and I am afraid the other side will bunch. Any solutions? I really have to make do with what I can find locally so I have to figure out this. If I sew the cotton side so both sides has fusible side exposed would it work? Or is there something I am missing? I am dead tired to make experiments at this moment (pregnant for 23 weeks) but my mind is racing with this project that's why I am asking here.. Thanks for your help..
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / I have a costs-profit related business question on: July 07, 2014 11:43:07 PM
This is somewhat simple but I am new in business I cannot make sense of it.

If I spend 900 (stand rent, flyers, shipping and remaining of the worker pay) for a 2 weeks long gig and made 2000 (excluding the daily expenses such as food and some payment for the workers), would it mean it is worth it? my husband previously made almost same amount of money in 40 days and his expense was around 400  . Now he wants to pursue this fair business but I think the costs compared to what we earn is too steep and not worth it since our prices are somewhat low (and that's the reason we could sell that much actually) and if we raise it we lose customers... What do you think?
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Long dangle necklace on: January 25, 2013 08:25:53 AM
Last night I made this necklace while watching Vampire Dairies! I cannot believe how addicted that stuff is, I am halfway through season 3 and I don't want it to end. Hope there will be a 5th and 6th season too Smiley Junk tv watching is my fix while knitting/crafting, I can get so much things done while mindlessly watching my favorite tv shows.

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Cast bronze pendant necklace on: January 23, 2013 11:50:00 PM
Someone in my community was offering a free class on jewelry design using lost wax and i had to take the opportunity. My first attempt was in last year but the casting place lost my piece so I had to design anew. I am glad that mishap happened because my second attempt was way better.

Yesterday I went to the atelier again to finish of the pendant, sanding, polishing etc. I get to use all the cool machines and I love it.. When I return home I put together a necklace using the pendant as the focal piece. The pendant is designed as a positive reminder of my dreams and failures in life so I plan to use it daily. I completed it with a feather and water pearl. It looks a bit too chic than casual but I love it.

7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My idea book on: January 22, 2013 03:07:37 PM
Today I sat down to make a few pages for art journal but I decided to make my idea book instead. I had this beautiful affirmation cards (or whatever they are called) from a swap with painting in one side and a positive advice on other. The main idea was to use them, in between i used various cardstocks and papers to write on. All of them is put together by handmade "washi" tapes i made using maps, book pages, envelope backings, mulberry paper etc. The cover is this thick vinyl like material i got in a swap. I backed a piece of mulberry with double sided tape and used it to hide the spine. I really love how it turned out. I will be carrying it in my bag..

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Socks.. on: January 14, 2013 11:04:53 AM
I knit these pair of baby socks for my little nephew. He is 8.5 months old now and he grows out everything so quickly his mom requests gifts to be bigger size to let him wear it more so I knit 12-18 months size from this drops pattern:

The pattern is very easy when you get past that weird wording of drops patterns... I will be making a few of these for my babies this year..
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Star Crossed NOT Slouchy Beret... on: January 13, 2013 10:04:56 AM
Yesterday I whipped up this hat while I was watching Vampire Diaries (and some Parenthood episodes) very quick for today's bad hair day.

The pattern is star crossed slouchy beret, but it did not get slouchy at all. The designer suggests worsted weight yarn and mine was bulky but it came out like a beanie size. But i love it and it is a great alternative to bad hair.
