2  Geisha dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by phlegethon on: March 27, 2009 09:17:58 AM
I don't really like patterns. I am a bit dense, and there are too many instructions. So I tend to have a lot of malformed projects, that I make far too big just so I can tweak them and tighten them until they fit. Yeah, I learned I should do that the hard way.

This dress, however, just came out good. And only 1 yard of fabric! Yay! Now I have a whole 'nother yard of this stuff....what to do, what to do.

So...picture time! Please excuse the face, hair, kitchen mess, and general slobbiness.

And it has pockets. I love pockets. So good for holding my tiny lady-pistol, cyanide tablets, and hitlist. Because I happen to be a secret spy. Very secret.

3  Embroidered notes of fondness in Needlework: Completed Projects by phlegethon on: March 27, 2009 07:04:18 AM
So I like to make small things for people, and leave them anonymously in their campus mailboxes. All shifty-like.  And my newest ones are little embroidered notes. I don't know how I will finish them, right now they're just small pictures all embroidered on the same piece of fabric. Maybe cut them out and say they're patches. Or something.

So, pictures. Sorry about the terrible blurriness. It's rainy today and the light in here isn't the greatest.

The first is a narwhal. He says, "Let me be your sexyface." My friend is enamored of this guy. We have a codename for him. Guess what it is.

It's a squirrel. He says, "You're cuter than a baby squirrel."

This is a cupcake proclaiming, "You're sweet!"

This is an anatomical heart. It says, "My heart. You has it." We like lolcats a lot. Lolspeak has become our new tongue.

Last but not least, Cthulhu. He says, "Cthulhu (heart)'s you. And so do I!"

4  Eiffel Tower Apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by phlegethon on: March 26, 2009 01:08:41 PM
I love aprons more than most things. And I had a bit of this Michael Miller Eiffel Tower fabric left over from a dress I made a while ago, which I will probably post if I can find any pictures, but anywho, it's a half apron with a pale pink ruffle and waistband and embroidered pocket.

And the pocket. I embroidered a kitty with a green bow and the words, "Moi, je suis le plus mignon!" (Me, I am the cutest!):

Thank you for looking!

5  Sugar? I've got your sugar right here. in Needlework: Completed Projects by phlegethon on: March 25, 2009 01:13:59 PM
I love pin-ups. And I love embroidering pin-ups. So when I saw the patterns for this challenge, I got so excited!

I did make some changes. I gave her a blue slip instead of shorts and a shirt, and changed her face. Now, she's get a quite saucy wink and smirk.

It says, "Sugar? I'll give you sugar." I'm reminded of that old song, "When I bring my sugar to tea/All the boys are jealous of me/So I don't bring my sugar to tea."

And...picture time!

Finished, a bit wrinkly:

And a close-up on the face, all saucily winking and stuff. I think she looks a bit like Lucille Ball!

I think she'll become an apron pocket, or perhaps tea-cosy.  I hope you like her!
