1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Zippo Lighter Customization on: January 19, 2007 07:52:16 PM
I'm trying to figure out what medium to use to decorate my plain Zippo lighter. I thought about stencils with spray paint, but I don't want to run the risk of my hand bursting into flames. Any suggestions? I'm open to any ideas at all, because all I want to do is make this personal. It's a blank canvas, and I just need to figure out where to start.
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Claddagh Bear (sort of) handmade by the boy. on: October 16, 2006 11:50:25 PM
For his birthday I made him Snakes on a Plane boxers, so for mine he decided to try his hand at sewing too... I remember him IMing me a few days before asking, "if I go over the same spot enough, does it make up for bad sewing?"

It's really sweet, and took a lot of effort. It melted my non-sentimental heart!

(I've worn a claddagh since I was 7, which is why he was inspired.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Jayne Cobb Hat! on: October 16, 2006 11:44:28 PM
Here's the hat I made my boyfriend before he was my boyfriend... we like to think my obsessive Jayne Hat Knitting brought us together. My parents had Monty Python (they met because of their shared interest), and we have another cult phenomenon entirely.

Y'all see the man in the kitchen with the really big gun? I'm not saying you weren't easy to find, but it was kind of out of our way and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's looking to kill some folk, so really it's his will y'all should be worried about thwarting.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Retro whirl away dress! on: June 16, 2006 07:18:49 PM
I just bought this pattern today! I have to make one or two long white "formals" for this summer conference, so I'm adjusting the pattern so that it's about 10 inches longer (ugh). I bought this lovely cream colored cotton, but it's going to be hard to find double fold tape to match...

Anyway, once I've worn it for the conference I'm going to change the edges and buttons to red and shorten it to the normal length. I'll post pictures once I get it done!
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Menstrual Care Package Swap #2 Gallery on: June 16, 2006 08:59:39 AM
night_owl- turns out I won't be getting my camera cable until tomorrow night, but once I do I'll be sure to upload pictures of the things you sent. Well, most of them. This week is "fun week", so quite a few of them have already been used, and the food is gone. Hehehe... let me just say, that they're working beautifully  Wink

Yay! I got my package from night_owl today! It's so fantastic.. such a great partner!

I have the rice bag on my lap right now.. hehehe

This is graduation weekend (party was tonight, tomorrow is the ceremony and a ton of parties, and sunday I have more parties), so I probably won't post pics until Sunday night or Monday afternoon.

Thanks, night_owl. This made today a perfect day!
8  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Menstrual Care Package Swap #2 on: May 31, 2006 04:39:44 PM
I had to buy all new fabric today (bleh.. at least if and when I find it I can use it for my own crafty purposes), so I'm finishing everything tonight (double bleh) and mailing tomorrow. Sorry night_owl, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.  Wink

I just have to find a bag of fabric that's gone mysteriously missing Huh, and finish up a few small things. Then I'll be ready to ship tomorrow afternoon!

Done!

I will probably add a red tongue, but that's all that is left. It's more suggestive than I had originally intended, but he's the type that appreciates a little "snake"-humor. Or a lot of "snake"-humor.
