Last night at 2:30, I finally got to sit down and make my Star Wars shirt. I've been planning it for weeks. Planning and putting it off.
Here's what I had as of 3:00 AM.



Now it says "I see your Force is as large as mine" underneath the lightsaber which is, in fact, modeled after a toy Vader one. I didn't like the red, but it was the only color felt I had and it's what was pictured. When I get an updated picture, I'll be sure to post.

Alright, so I may have strayed from the pattern some. The bodice is completely different. I had to take it in about 6 inches in the waist! I must have been completely self-loathing when I bought a size 18.

I still need to make a few small alterations, but it's basically done!

I am (in the near future) starting to work on my dress for prom. I found this amazing pattern, Vogue V7571 (below), and I fell in love with the floor length, long sleeve version. I think it would be beautiful in champagne lace and charmeuse... but lace is expensive. I had no idea! Turns out I need 7 1/8 yards at 45" wide (5 1/8 at 60"). Does anyone know a store/site where I could find some on the cheap?

I made mine while watching "Benny and Joon". Ahh.. Johnny.

I went up to Gap to get the flower pin that I'm going to stick on the flap and (shocking) they didn't have it in. Every other color on the face of the planet, but not multicolored. Luckily, they ordered it for me. I'll just have to give the pin to Lauren late.









I'm just glad to be done with it.

I'm working on an envelope clutch for my friend Lauren, as a Christmas present. I've made clutches before, and although I love the way they look when they're finished, they're always so flimsy.
Since it's not for me, I want to try and reinforce it. I was wondering what you guys thought about using poster board or card stock between the shell and the lining. I thought it might work well to sort of "tack" the fabric to the board with sequins in random places. Is that a silly idea?



Here's the shell. The lining will be the same satin, but plain. I'm going to attach them like a pillow (inside out, stitch around the edges, then turn right side out).



Once I've attached the lining, I'll stitch up each side.



I'll use a snap on the inside to close.



On the front of the flap I'm going to attach this pin I saw at Gap. It was the inspiration for the clutch.



I was thrilled when I saw the pin in a magazine, because Lauren is buying these shoes from Delia's.

The pictures really don't do the satin justice. It is rose, the loveliest shade of pink I've ever found. I got a great deal on it in the remnants basket.

As an afterthought, I may sew some of this sequin trim on a matching ribbon to make a strap for her wrist. It'll be an extra-large wristlet.

I've decided that I adore felt. It's so easy to work with, and it always has that cutsie little kid look.



I did this in about an hour one evening while I was watching Joan of Arcadia. Not bad, not bad.



My friend Lisa is begging for one for Christmas. I need a new theme for hers.
