i really like ur bag. it looks simple. i need to make a purse for my friends birthday on saturday. i really wanna make her a messenger but i cant seem to figure out how to make the flap. how did u make the flap?

the flap is just two pieces of the outer fabric the same dimensions as the bag (you can choose how big or small you want to make your bag), stitched together with two pieces of velcro on the inside piece. i guess you could use a piece of lining on the inside, but i used two outer fabric pieces to make sure it was sturdy.

i should really make a tutorial  Roll Eyes

Wow, I too love the buttons, the little heart one just makes it. Did you use interfacing at all?

no interfacing; the fabric is thick and durable enough that i don't need it.

So.. Its basically the jordy bag with a flap only larger and with a variation on how big the corner notches are so that it doesnt taper so much at the top??? Just makin sure cause that seems simpler than the gusset version. Wink

yep, that is pretty much exactly how i did it! haha, i also looked at the gusset bag and couldn't figure it out  Lips sealed

What a brilliant use for those boxes!

Yeh I was thinking shoe boxes as well, but what I dont see is how to make the 'housing' that they sit in. Is it made from cardboard from scratch or did you find bigger boxes to sit your boxes in. If this makes sense?

the compartments that the drawers sit in are the bottoms of the boxes themselves, and the drawers are the lids. everything is just cut up and taped to make it fit.

shoeboxes would be a cool way to store bigger stuff! if i ever get enough shoeboxes of the same size, i might try that

the plaid skirt is really cute, and i also like the makeup bag--the two patterned fabrics actually go together well! you give newbies like me more confidence! thanks for posting this cool stuff Smiley

i love it! do you think you could make a tutorial? no pressure, cuz i could probably figure it out myself, but it'd be cool to have something to go by.
