11  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Haunted Prom Halloween Party on: August 11, 2006 04:07:38 PM
I was appointed Halloween Mistress again this year for the office party.  The department I work for has a huge competition between the different divisions every year.  This year we have a new division head, and she has informed me that she does not want to lose, since we've won two years in a row, doesn't want to be shown up...

It has to have a theme and the last couple years it wasn't scary (wild west - barf! and Pirates - ok.) Halloween without scary is just lame, and wrong. So I'm thinking Haunted Prom Night with a black and orange balloon arch, a photo spot with dead flowers and spooky dead tree background, dead flower boutonieres and corsages, crowns or something spiky, with spiders and such for the best costumes (for the ubiquitous prom king and queen,) and black and orange streamers, lots of pumpkins and so on.

I know you guys will have loads of brilliant additions to help me carry this to victory for my boss (and ultimately, for *me*   Grin

I'll post photos when it's over
12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / gift ideas for flashlight obsessed friend on: July 31, 2006 12:45:48 PM
I have a friend who is as obsessed with his flashlights and flashlight forum (yes, they exist) as I am with Craftster. I want to make him a present that will knock his LED out - I'd love to get some ideas from you guys!  Kiss
13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / sympathy card - help finding the right poem on: July 28, 2005 11:32:12 AM
Someone I know recently lost a family member. I'm trying to make him a sympathy card but now that I need it can't seem to find a good (not cheesy) poem or quote to write on it.

Any ideas?
14  California / California: Central / here's a long-shot - any craftsters in the Eastern Sierra? on: June 30, 2005 08:59:22 PM
I know the chances might be slim, but with all the amazing artists and artisans here on the eastern slopes there must be a couple of us here in craftster!

I'm in Bishop...shout if you're out there!

15  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Mardi Gras Party - Ideas for a Kick-Butt Costume? on: January 13, 2005 07:44:07 PM
I didnt know where to post this request - I hope this will do it.

Help!                   Undecided                              Help!                         Kiss              Help!          Undecided                  Help!                       Kiss                 Help!                   Undecided              Help!

I've been invited to a Mardi Gras party and the invitations were sent a month early so we would "have time to get a costume (required) together." I'm reading into this that the costumes will probably be pretty elaborate.
For reasons too involved to post here I need to really have a good one for this. I'm thinking along the lines of Carnivale di Venezia or Comedia del Atre - really over the top. I have a beautiful mask my sister brought from Venice this summer but it's a man's mask, but at least I can use it for inspiration.
I have one idea so far - bubble wrap - and if I can ever figure out how to upload a picture here I will post the one I found that inspired it. But I was thinking that if I was going to find a really great idea for a costume that will blow people's minds, it's to the craftsters I must turn! I still have about three weeks (as of January 13) so any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I'm going to try to start sometime this weekend, but I'll probably procrastinate till the weekend before the party.[/color]
