I would like to give some feedback about the thumbs on the home page - when I want to browse the projects on the home page I often can't tell what anything is until I open the thumb because they are zoomed in so close. This wastes a lot of time. It would be nice if there were a more "elegant" solution, where perhaps a full size photo displays when you hover the cursor over the photo, or an option to open a whole page of the selected category. Anything would be better than having to open each image to browse. And, when I'm sneaking a peek at Craftster while I'm at work, it increases my risk of getting in trouble for screwing around! Just a thought.
Bored with store-bought stockings and really loving working with felt, I made my kids new stockings a couple Christmases ago. I was worried the kids might not want to let go of their old stockings, but they love these!
I do apologize for the poor quality photos. Don't know if it's a bad camera, or bad end user
This one is my daughter's:
I went to the thrift store and bought an old lambswool sweater in a a lovely red. I washed it in soapy warm water and it made a perfect felt. The top is ribbing from the sweater's sleeve. I had a vintage white filigree metal-ball necklace which I took apart and flattened to make the snowflakes. The bunny is made from regular little felt squares.
I found the coolest silicone skull-shaped ice cube trays and thought a fun twist would be to make skull-shaped jello jiggler type shots for my Halloween party this year. Has anyone tried this? Have a good recipe?
I imagine it's right here under my nose and I"ll be embarrassed for posting this, but I need to know - What happened to the Craftster swag? I wanted to buy my daughter a tee shirt and can't find the link!
I am designing the flyer/invitation for the office Christmas (actually we don't get to say the C word anymore, it's a "Holiday" party, whatever) and I would love to use something other than the usual predictable clip art from MS. Ideally I'd draw something original, but don't think I want to spend the time for a work thing.
Does anyone know where I might find some fun images to use?
I found a wonderful site about early costumes. I haven't had time to browse the whole thing, but wanted to post this so others could start checking it out.
Once again the Party Mistress. Scary Fairy Tales is the theme this year and we have more money and hopefully more enthusiastic volunteers to help out. Got some great ideas, and the theme is so wide open it should allow for a lot of creativity. And we've got an "idea bucket" so that people who say they can't think of anything will be able to dip into it. We even plan on having a dress up room in an empty cubicle so that people without costumes can find one on the day of the party! We're tricking out a conference room like a magical forest, complete with a gingerbread house facade, a stand up witch and a person in a scarecrow costume (and real pumpkin head!) posing as a prop, a semiprofessional photographer to do the promstyle photos of revelers, a scavenger hunt, poison apple chomp (in lieu of bobbing, apples on a string), bean bag toss, dry ice. fog machines...my gosh, it's starting to sound really cool! But most of the ideas are kind of foggy and nebulous yet. I envision lots of glitter and stuff hanging from the ceiling...birds and bats "flying" from the ceiling, hopefully giant scary papier-mache trees and mushrooms. Maybe a little ambitious, but I think it can be done. Anyone with particular suggestions is welcome to post them, I'd love to hear your ideas!
I never did post the photos from last year's Haunted Prom. I can't seem to update that thread, maybe too old...
I couldn't find a category for felt projects, so misc. it is...
I finally figured how to post a photo here, with my crappy camera phone, yea! - place standard but genuine camera phone apologies here - If this works I'll get to add some of my other things I've talked about here and never been able to post.
I made a few of these little guys - an alligator in a toutou and a kitty in a coffee cup - that I gave away. this squirrely little guy I kept for myself.
I was appointed Halloween Mistress again this year for the office party. The department I work for has a huge competition between the different divisions every year. This year we have a new division head, and she has informed me that she does not want to lose, since we've won two years in a row, doesn't want to be shown up...
It has to have a theme and the last couple years it wasn't scary (wild west - barf! and Pirates - ok.) Halloween without scary is just lame, and wrong. So I'm thinking Haunted Prom Night with a black and orange balloon arch, a photo spot with dead flowers and spooky dead tree background, dead flower boutonieres and corsages, crowns or something spiky, with spiders and such for the best costumes (for the ubiquitous prom king and queen,) and black and orange streamers, lots of pumpkins and so on.
I know you guys will have loads of brilliant additions to help me carry this to victory for my boss (and ultimately, for *me*
