42  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Old heavy tape dispenser: what to do with it? on: March 24, 2011 12:20:45 PM
You could cover it with a papier-mache design and make a cell phone cradle.
43  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Home Invasion! on: March 24, 2011 12:18:01 PM
I don't think I could bear to embroider over older linens like that, they're so timeless! In fact, I have a whole box full of that stuff that my grandma embroidered and tatted herself, but I'm afraid to do anything other than peek at it once in a while for fear of ruining anything.
That said, you do lovely work. I love the big spider with the orange flowers Smiley

I'm torn, because I totally agree with pugwash, and I totally appreciate the perspective of updating them so they get used.  I use my grandma's china and quilts, even though they are precious, because she always said they worthless if no one ever enjoys them.  That said, I wouldn't paint or rip one of them... a thrift store score though, I might be able to make that happen.
Flurominx, I admire your fierceness, and your considerable talent.

What?!?!  This sweater is amazing. Love the upscaling, love the Alice theme, love the colors, the twirliness... everything.
Was about to ask acout your technique but I see it's been answered.  Anyway, kudos, you look marvelous in it too, btw.

Here are the (crappy cell phone) photos of the ridiculously fabulous package I received from QuindustriousP.  Even the package was great, note the adorable drawing on the enclosed letter:

I actually did a little *gasp* when I opened this, marked for the office

They're little stretched canvases painted to look like Polaroid snapshots. Love it!

Here are all four on my grey, grey cube wall so cheerful now! (tempted to put them on my mantle with my other gnomie stuff)

A parcel marked for the garden with a picture of Amlie and her crme brul cracking spoon.  Inside, assorted spoons for marking my plants.  I LOVE these, so sweet and creative:

I have had to defend this from the clutches of my daughter.  She wont quit raving about my super-sweet new bag, complete with French knots on the raspberries  

My photos really dont do any of these things justice, but everything was truly wonderful!  And, I might add, this was QPs first swap. Thanks for everything; I cant quit grinning every time I see one of my new Amlie goodies!

My daughter called me at work begging to open my package from QuinndustriousP.  Hands off sister!  I told her, if you want to open a swap package, you better get on Craftster and sign-up for one.  Now for the torture... I just realized I was invited to a friend's tonight, so I won't be home to open it until late tonight!  >_<
Can't wait!
O-M-G!  I opened my package and it's an overdose of fabulousness! Can't wait to post the photos tomorrow.

Oh my gosh, this happens every time I swap, I look at my stuff, think I've got a pretty good package together and then start seeing the gallery and begin to have swap anxiety...  wow.

Working my fingers to the bone to meet the deadline. Fingers crossed it all turns out!

Me too, Knickers!  Now my folks are coming this weekend.  Seriously?  No stress there... Bringing work to work, and making most of every minute.  Amazing how stuff comes together when it looks impossible  Smiley  Good thing this is so fun!  This confirms my theory - if I want life to get stirred-up, all I have to do is commit to a swap!
