21  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: help with mask! on: September 30, 2011 09:59:18 AM
I would try wearing a snug fitting hat, and glue foam between hat & mask.

-- I see others have suggested this.  Must be a good idea  Wink

Another thought is to build a wire support from your shoulders, if the mask is big enough to fit that far down your head.

Something better work, that's a gorgeous big head mask!

The french still wear those for Carnival. Maybe there is something on the web... if I can find a link to instructions I'll come back and post it.

What an incredibly beautiful child.  The costume is fantastic too.  But I assume you made both and are most proud of the first.  : )
23  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Samhain Headpiece, mask + board. on: September 15, 2011 12:06:23 PM
Rediscovered this today.  The mask and headpiece are beautiful.  I made something similar to this for spring a few years ago and just couldn't bear to put it away, so I have it on my lampshade in my bedroom.  Smiley
Also, the headpiece goes so well with your pretty coloring and haircut!

He's wonderful!  The key is a very nice touch, mysterious... what is that key for...hmm?
I love this idea.  Wouldn't that be a fun start for a Halloween swap?  Buy a basic raven and dress him up for Halloween!

Very cool!  Looking forward to seeing it in action.  Thanks Craftster for being so responsive to user input.

My buddy I was crafting with retired and moved to Seattle right around the time we were trying to get this together.  Then I didn't get to some of whateverjames' e-mails (dead home comp) and it just sort of fell apart.
If a couple people get this moving again I'd like to join up.  I have a little more time and money than I did back when this thread started too  Smiley
I still work in Rancho and live in CH.  So it sounds like we're all not very far from each other too.

Alexus1325 - that was exactly what I was thinking of when I posted this.  I love looking at costumes, when that's what I'm into, but when I'm looking for props, housewares, party stuff I feel I have to wade through the costumes.  If the Costume board were adequate people would post their costumes and costume discussions there, but it's such a particular subject Halloween costumes.  I really believe they deserve their own board here.
Anyway, just a thought on user-friendliness from a (frequent Smiley )user.

Super sweet! This actually laughed out loud when I saw this. Way to make something your own! It's so cute. Hope you don't mind, but I have got to try one too. This is my favorite Halloween post in a while. Giving it a This Rocks  : )
29  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / [ACCEPTED] Give Halloween costumes its own board? on: September 11, 2011 10:11:32 AM
I would like to recommend we consider giving Halloween costumes its own board.  Each year the number of fab costumes seems to grow. To facilitate browsing and to showcase costume making as a partcular craft, a board dedicated to Halloween costumes and dicussions about costume making would be a benefit to our forum.  ...IMHO : )
What do you guys think?
30  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: What are you making for Halloween 2011? on: August 24, 2011 01:52:53 PM
My sister suggested that some Halloween projects would cheer me up.  She is absolutely right!  So, I'm thinking something in papier-mach... something really big.  So what if I don't have anywhere to store it in November, right?  Maybe it's time to troll old Martha Stewart magazines (her earlier years were very inspired Halloween-wise)
I'd also like to do a bunch of those little white Miyazaki tree spirit guys to put under the tree.  OR giant glittery mushrooms for the front yard with great big fuzzy spiders.
