thank you everyone!

This is darling!  The pink ribbon is just the right touch of sweetness. Smiley

Was it a difficult pattern to do?

It wasn't difficult at all.  Actually, after I did the first bit of the motif, I didn't even have to look at the pattern again until I was at the ruffle.  The ruffle about drove me to drink but it was definitely worth it!

My brother in law and his wife are expecting in March (right around my birthday!).  I decided to make them a baby blanket as a gift.

closeup of the ribbon... I really cut it close on the ribbon!  I just ran out when I reached the corner again...

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Baby Blanket Question on: December 31, 2009 02:10:57 PM
I'm making a baby blanket for my brother-in-law and his wife who are due in March.  I have 2 cats and inevitably everything I craft gets cat hair on it.  I'm going to hand wash the blanket before I give it to them which is where my question comes up.

I don't have any kids, so I am completely unfamiliar with baby stuff and whether or not fabric softener is ok to use.  I normally use fabric softener that is fragrance free for sensitive skin, but I don't know if it is ok to use on baby stuff?

So after all the blah blah blah, I guess my question is:  Can I use fabric softener on something for a newborn if it is fragrance free?
