So a while ago my husband asked me to knit him a sweater (it was supposed to be his Christmas present, but I only just finished it - only 6 months late!).
He had a vision of a tunic-style one - sort of like a medieval tunic, but knitted. Long sleeves, a lace-up neckline, very plain and in a neutral colour.
This is what I came up with:
It isn't as long as I wanted, and it is a bit more fitted than planned (I think he has put some weight on in the last 6 months since I measured him because the sweater is knitted to the correct size, it just isn't as loose as it should be)
I used Patons Classic Merino (can't remember how many balls - it was quite a lot), and was knitted on 4.5mm needles.
It was knitted circular from the bottom up, the body first, and then the sleeves, which I then joined at the underarms and carried on with the yoke, switching to knitting flat where the opening was. The lacing at the neckline is a crochet chain done with 2 strands of the yarn on a 5mm hook.
He must be pretty pleased with it because he went to work wearing it this morning.
