1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / its so fluffy im gonna die!!!! on: October 04, 2011 11:08:28 PM

I was originally inspired by a pair of beautiful guess by marciano heels that I tried on at Macys just for shits and giggles (they were 200 bucks!). and the longing for those beauties with the fuzzies and the sparkles drove me to alter a pair of boring heels in my closet... and I am actually quite happy with the results!

the overly priced beauties

I just bought a maribou boa and some flatback crystals. so I'm kinda mad at myself for not taking some before pics... but just imagine a pair of plain strappyish short heels. black. not ugly, but nothing really special.... and then BAM! fuzzy attack!

I cut a strip of maribou to go over the toe section... and then as I was contemplating gluing the crystals in the maribou (which would have been a disaster) my awesome buddy told me to try gluing the crystals going up the strap.... GENIOUS!

I think I like these more than the guess shoes, because the guess ones had faux fur, but this is maribou... and it is sooo fun just to shake and watch it wave around! or to caress across my cheek.... just imagine me holding the heels and shaking them madly saying "its so fluffy im gonna die!" in a little kid voice... yeah i know dont judge me....

But anyway, What do you guys think?

PS: yay I am slowly beating my habit of lurking and not posting! proud of me? lol Smiley
2  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / anyone ever tried to paint rainboots? on: January 02, 2011 08:22:24 PM
Hi everyone.

I've been toying with the idea to paint a design on my black and white rainboots. However, I don't really know what kind of paint would work best. I was just going to spray paint them black, but then I started to think that maybe that kind of paint would just chip and peel off? Idk. I was thinking that maybe acrylic paint might adhere the best.

Anyway, I figured I would ask for some opinions before I accidentally trash my rainboots because I should have asked for help first. so people, any suggestions?  Wink
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / retro USO uniform... HELP! on: September 27, 2009 11:50:36 AM
Ok I've always wanted to be a cute little retro USO girl for halloween, but I can never find a pattern for one. Does anyone know where I can find a pattern for a costume like that? Or does anyone know how I might go about improvising my own?

I would love something that looks kinda like the outfit Rory Gilmore wears in the Gilmore Girls episode where she organizes a retro USO dinner fundraiser.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cute pin-up halter from button down shirt... inspired from duckjustaduck! on: September 14, 2009 09:08:20 PM
I was totally inspired by duckjustaduck's reconstructed button down shirt... I found a really cool button down shirt at a thrift store for 3 dollars. I thought it was an interesting shirt because it was that colorful LV louis vuitton print. I'm pretty sure it's not real... but I thought it was interesting.

In case you're wondering... the dress form is homemade. Threadbanger.com has a tutorial on how to make one.
