13  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Seems like a tension problem, but the tension dial doesn't fix it??? HELP! :o( on: July 21, 2009 12:00:22 PM
OMG I was having a similar problem on my brother XL2610. its just a standard little sewing machine. I bought it in april and hadnt had a chance to use it until about june. I was mostly working with tshirt fabric (just plain ol knit cotton jersey) and it was workin fine. then about two days ago it started looking like the upper tension was too tight.... but no matter what the flip I did, it didnt fix it. I changed to a different needle, rethreaded upper thread and bobbin, tried a new bobbin, changed the tension up and down and NOTHING. I took it to a shop and the damn machine MADE A LIAR OUT OF ME right in front of the person helping me.... suddenly it was working fine. He suggested a different needle to use with the jersey and I put it in, it worked fine for about a day or two and now its acting up again.

After reading this whole thread I am going to take it in and have it looked at again...I tried opening everything up to give it a good cleaning, but one of the screws is SUPER tight and i cant get it out. I hope the shop can open it, clean it out, and tell me what is wrong and fix it.
