1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The LunyLuna Clutch Notebook on: March 13, 2009 07:28:01 AM

This creation came about a couple of nights ago and I finally just finished it. It's a notebook like clutch.

The left side has a large pocket to hold a notepad or whatever your heart desires. On top of the large pocket is 3 sep. small pockets for cash/credit cards.

The right side has a zippered pocket large enough to fit your cell or camera.

Please let me know what you think, I would love any and all feedback/comments/suggestions.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / questions from a beginner... on: March 09, 2009 05:24:21 PM

I have a couple of questions about purse making since I'm kind of new at it. I've been looking on the boards for answers but am still a bit uncertain about a couple of purse making basics.
ok sorry in advance if these questions sound extra basic/silly to some of you, but I appreciate all responses. Thank you!

How thick of an interfacing should you use for a purse?

Do you add it to the seam allowances or no?

any pointers on attaching a magnetic clasp please?

how come no one sells those flexible hexagon clasp thingies?

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Spring Clutch - my 1st recycled bag on: March 01, 2009 12:51:19 PM

I made this clutch from 2 diff. pairs of old carpi's that i never wore. I didn't really know what I was doing because Ive only made one other bag ever and it was a grocery bag, no lining... nothing...

so for this bag I interfaced both pieces of fabric and sewed them together without a separate lining.
Added some hardware and brown ribbon to cover up mistakes Smiley and voila a springish bag.

Any comments or pointers would be appreciated...

p.s. was i supposed to post this in the clothing recons or is this ok?

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / sweater to hat on: February 15, 2009 11:58:47 PM
I used my husband's old sweater to make this hat. First attempt at sewing in a while...it was way to plain so i used some lace, ribbon and a button to add a little something.

here it is:

any thoughts?
