I think this is cute.  If its too stiff you can always turn it into a purse by stitching across the bottom.  That would be cute, just add a strap. Grin

I have used a knitting graph to crochet.  It was a graph of Blues Clues and I made it into a crocheted afghan.  You are supposed to do it in sc, one sc per box and change colors as needed or do as I did and carry the colors along.  I wanted it to get done faster so I did hdc.  Turned out you need two stitches per square if you are doing hdc or it doesnt look right.
Im sorry I dont have a pic of it, it was lost in the tragic death of my old computer.

You could use the torso's for this also

He has a potted plant in his neck and a basket hanging from his hand.  Couldnt see him in the garbage.  His head is on a stake by the tomato plants.  Neighbors thought it was a message, LOL.
