2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Ironed Grilled Cheese Sandwich on: October 30, 2011 05:53:58 PM
HAAAAAAAAAAA this is hilarious! I actually just had a grilled cheese sandwich because I was craving earlier. Unfortunately for my badass factor, I am much more likely to have a frying pan on hand rather than an iron. womp womp.
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Green tea latte recipes?!? on: October 30, 2011 05:52:30 PM
So I figured out how to make foamy milk (I KNOW!!!! awesome. so much cheaper than starbucks), and I've made the regular lattes with espresso, but I acquired some matcha recently! Unfortunately it's super expensive, so I want to make sure I have the right ratio of water to powder. Does anyone have a fail-proof ratio for green tea lattes? There doesn't seem to be many recipes on the interwebs. Thanks for reading, all!

I'm google-reading your site :] have no fear of being followerless! Also, I have not yet made pretzels... except at summer camp, but then we didnt do it the real way. It was more of a "let's make salty bread!" "yum, sounds good!" Basically, I'm excited to try them!
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Pumpkin Scones Experimentation! on: October 30, 2011 05:43:56 PM
Do it! I'm gonna do a remake asap. I have recently acquired 10 cans of pumpkin. Eeeeeee!
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: LOPSIDED BAGELS!!!!!!!!!! on: September 30, 2011 03:34:35 AM
Thanks for your input! They tasted AMAZING. When I made this recipe the first few times I didn't realize I was using active dry yeast as instant yeast... so my bagels were itty bitty! I had no idea there was a difference... rehhhh rookie mistake :] And I could still improve them! I did the pre-ferment thing for a little bit, but I didn't have the sugar totally dissolved in the water, so I definitely could've gotten a way better rise! I think??? Correct me if I'm wrong! I am so glad I am learning this stuff!
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / LOPSIDED BAGELS!!!!!!!!!! on: September 28, 2011 04:09:44 PM
I made them :] I know they are ugly but I have yet to perfect my roll technique!

Recipe here: http://johndlee.hubpages.com/hub/Homemade_bagel_recipe_Make_great_nadrolled_water_bagels__its_as_easy_as_baking_a_loaf_of_bread

I have a question that's probably going to seem ridiculous (especially after the fact haha-- whoops!): but what exactly is the difference between instant yeast and active dry yeast?

Thanks!

Thank you all for your input! I think I am going to just add the extra flour initially, now that I know approximately how much more I need... so sticky, but not TOO sticky! And just flour everything lots and lots (especially my hands). Got it! Next step: make the spiced glaze in that first recipe link.
