Hey everyone!
Since I last posted, I've started two new jobs and have been so busy that I haven't been able to post:( I use all my very limited free time to craft though, so now that I finally have a day off after 3 straight weeks working, I wanted to post a few things! PS- one of my new jobs is at a local fabric store and I literally always end up buying at least one thing every single time I work. It's such a problem! Haha!

Prompt: Pong- September
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project name: Pong Patch
Brief Description: I was sort of stuck on this prompt until I remembered the joy of TM patches. It's only my third one ever, but they are so fun to do for prompts that I don't know what to do with.

Prompt: Scrabble- September
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project name: Halloween Banner
Brief Description: Who knew you could embroider on burlap! I asked a girl at work and she suggested filmoplast stabilizer and the stuff is amazing! I want to make one for every season now! I had so much fun making this.

Prompt: October Battle Royale- Halloween
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project name: Wookie Baby
Brief Description: My Godson is three years old and his mama asked me to make him a wookie costume for Halloween this year. This is actually the first commissioned sewing project I have ever done, so I cant wait to see it on him! When I get a picture from his mom I will post a better pic, but I don't know if that will be before the end of the battle royale, so here is a crappy picture for now.

Prompt: Trick or Treat- October
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project name: Coconut Lime Bread
Brief Description: I have been working so much lately that I didn't have time to go shopping for a while. So I opened my fridge to find a bag full of limes and no breakfast food at all. I looked on pinterest for "lime bread" and found this recipe. I had a bag full of cocunut left over from the coconut/carrot bread I made a few weeks ago, so I figured I'd give it a shot. It turned out okay, but not great. Mostly this is because I didn't have everything that the recipe called for so I had to make some substitutions (like skim milk for coconut milk). It tastes great, but its so solid that it really has to be heated up before I can eat it. Oh well, at least it saved me from having to make a trip to the grocery store. Haha!

Prompt: Pumpkin Patch- October
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project name: Veggie Bibs
Brief Description: I made these last month while the plumber was taking over my house for the bathroom renovation. I like these ones even more than the ones I posted last month!

Prompt: Haunted House- October
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project name: Bug Bibs
Brief Description: One thing I have no shame admitting I am scared of is bugs. They are super gross, and after having a really bad infestation of ladybugs a few years ago, I even kinda hate lady bugs. BUT, I saw this pattern and it was so cute that I gave it a shot anyway. I love them and the little giraffes. So adorbs!

And lastly, since I am sure I will be posting pictures of the finished product eventually (once I have the time to do the finishing touches) I figured I'd show you what my bathroom was looking like mid-way through the renovation.

Sorry I haven't had the time to post on all the projects y'all have been posting lately, but trust me, you guys rock! I get updates on the battles through the mobile app so I check up on you often even though I only lurk. Keep up the amazing work!

Prompt:  Battle Royale- Video Games
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Paragon/Renegade
Brief Description: In my favourite video game- Mass Effect- many of the choices Shepard (the main character) makes have the option to be either the diplomatic good guy or the wild, bad boy type. I always have a hard time deciding and so I often go with the paragon choices, but I saw this phrase on a t-shirt on pinterest once and I was like "woah! I need to make that!" haha! So I embroidered this quick for that battle royale! Sorry I forgot to take a picture before I framed it, so there is a glare.
Project Picture:

Prompt: Yahtzee
Team: Fandom
Project Name: 5 bibs
Brief Description: I mentioned recently that my bathroom is being renovated and I have a horrible time of relaxing when other people are doing work. Since I have no skills required to assist a plumber, I decided to use all that nervous energy to build up a bit of inventory for craft shows in the future. I made so many little things! But to fit the prompt, here are five bibs that I made.
Project Picture:

Prompt:  Flash Mob- Game of Life
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Collars
Brief Description: I freaking love Peter Pan collars. They are so cute it kills me! So I bought a pattern and cut it to a size small and made one about a year ago. Turns out I have a big neck and it didn't fit so had to wait to buy the pattern again when it was on sale and cut it to a large. Now these are a little big, but it is better than the alternative! I made these for myself in the hope that eventually I will have a job that will allow me to actually wear cute things to work and not just my stupid uniform every day!
Project Picture:

Prompt:  Hide and seek
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Green Doll dress
Brief Description: This is the first 18" doll dress that I have made and I had such a blast making it! I love sewing apparel, but I have too many clothes as is, so it was fun to make clothes for a little dolly! I know its a stretch to make this fit the prompt, but I would say this dress has made me take a second, third, and fourth look just to ogle at its cuteness. I don't know why I love making tiny clothes, but it may be my new thing!
Project Picture:

Prompt:  Solitaire
Team: Fandom
Project Name: Doll Dress 2
Brief Description: I made another one immediately after making the first one because I was having so much fun. I like the apron on this one because I used a decorative stitch on the waistband and I think that adds a lot.
Project Picture:

I made some more bibs that are fruits and veggies, and some that are animals, but I don't think even when I'm really reaching that those fit for the "pong" or "scrabble" prompts, so I guess I will have to save those as back ups for next month in case I don't have time to finish everything!

Here it is folks! My final entries for this season of the Nerd Games! I've still got a research project in the works, but I'm not expecting to finish it before the end of the month. But here are my three remaining prompts!

Prompt:   August- Version 2.0
Team: Fandom!
Event: Craftology
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Closet redo X2
Brief Description: I have submitted a couple of closet redos this season, but this is my favourite. This is the entry way closet, so it was a plain white with a bar to hang coats on. I don't know about any of you, but I am lazy, so I knew it was gonna need some hooks instead. I painted the closet mint green using leftover paint from my kitchen cabinets and then added nine hooks. I did break one drill bit and my triceps hurt for days, but I did it!
Project Picture:

Sorry that picture is not great, but it gets the point across

Prompt: Perseid Meteor Shower
Team: Fandom!
Event: Fabricology
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Firefly Galaxy Hoop
Brief Description: For this hoop i sewed together a couple strips of different blue fabrics, then hand painted the fabric to try to make a galaxy print. Then I embroidered a quote from one of the best shows in the 'verse, Firefly, onto it. If you haven't seen it, Firefly is a western set in space. It's amazing. Go watch it now!
Project Picture:

AND NOW FOR THE LAST PROMPT OF THE SEASONNNNNNNNNN.... ba dada dun dun dun DAAAAAAAA!

Prompt: Team Spirit-Fandom
Team: Fandom!
Event: Fabricology
Bonus Points: +10 for team fandom
Project Name: Anti-possession hoop
Brief Description: I had a hard time deciding what to do for this prompt because I am a fan of so many things! I decided to go with a hoop of the anti-possession tattoo the boys have on supernatural. I totally want it as a tattoo myself, but people who don't know the show many judge me for having a flaming pentagram on my body. haha! As far as two reason why I am a part of the Supernatural fandom.... That's easy! 1. Dean 2. The Impala (I could keep going, but then I would just be listing everything on the show!)

Battle/Challenge: August Mob- Happiness
Team: Fandom
Event: Fabricology
Project Name: Blakely Wedding
Brief Description: I made this pillow for the wedding of my close friends Rob and Cait, whose wedding I am going to next week. It hopefully will fulfill this prompt by making them happy  Smiley I used a design picture from urbanthreads of hades and Persephone, which I find to be really beautiful.

Battle/Challenge: August- Rhinestone Cowboy
Team: Fandom
Event: Paperology
Project Name: Napkins
Brief Description:
I embroidered these peacock feathers onto a shimmery fabric I got at a thrift store. Then, to make it more crafty I made these napkin rings to go with them. They are made of toilet paper rolls, (hence paperology) shimmery ribbon, and burlap ribbon.

Yay for new prompts! I had a few finished projects that weren't fitting with the prompts I had left, so now I'm able to post some of those!

Also, I can't wait to finish my Textbook Team Prompt. I think y'all are gonna like it! Mostly now it's taking awhile because I keep having to wait for paint to dry in my incredibly humid basement, but I hope it will be posted this week!

Prompt: August Battle- Earth
Team: Fandom
Event: Fabricology
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Reusable swiffer pads
Brief Description: I bought some texturized terry cloth and made up two different kinds of reusable floor pads. I am happy that I have time to make more environmentally friendly cleaning products lately. That's why I'm submitting this for Earth.
Project Picture:

Prompt: August- Taste the rainbow
Team: Fabric
Event: Foodology
Bonus Points: +10
Project Name: Blue-berry Lemon Bread
Brief Description: Yesterday I went blueberry picking with some friends and ending up with WAAAAY too many blueberries, especially considering I already had a gallon bag full of them in my freezer. So my plan for this week is to get creative with blueberries. I am not much of a baker, but this week I'm on a roll! I made a coconut carrot bread three days ago, and then this bread today! The only problem is now I have so much delicious food that I don't want to eat anything healthy:)
Project Picture:

Only two of those were mine, but still! TOO MANY BLUEBS!!! 55 lbs. total!

Prompt: August- Secret Stash
Team: Fandom
Event: Fabricology
Bonus Points: N/a
Project Name: Chevron Blouse
Brief Description: As many of you may remember seeing, I have a big stash of fabric in my craft room. Too big. I need to start making some things with all that lovely fabric before I go buy more (which is my biggest compulsion). So I decided to make this blouse with a pattern and fabric that I've had in my stash forever. I think it turned out pretty cute, although as usual I don't think I chose the right size. A small, in this case would have been better than the medium since it's so flowy. The neckline is a little too wide for my frame, which means my bra is getting a lot of facetime.
Project Picture:

Prompt: August- String theory
Team: Fandom
Event: Yarnology
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Chair socks
Brief Description: I just refinished my floor and it was SO MUCH WORK. And of course, as soon as I put furniture in my living room I realized the floor was getting scratched. Since I don't have the money to buy a nice area rug right now, and I'd rather not waste money on a cheap one that I will just replace later, I decided to do something kinda odd and make these little socks for my chair legs. I'm going to make some more for my foot stool since that is doing the most damage to the floor, but for now I went with the quick and easy fix. I think there are like 20 of them all together.

Thanks lovelymiss! I was lucky because I went to Joanns on the perfect day. My mom had sent me a 30% off your purchase coupon she had earned and I went when the planters were 70% off plus an additional 30%. So I bought like 8 planters because they were like $3-8 dollars a piece! It was awesome!

Now be prepared for some major project porn because *dadadaduuuuuun* I finished my research project!

Research Project Name: Kitchen Nightmare Solution
Team: Fandom
Event: Craftoogy
Bonus Points: N/A
Brief Description: To start off with this projects, I scraped the 10+ layers of paint off of the cabinets using a heat gun and a scraper which took about a week. I then painted the cabinets a light mint colour and decided to leave open shelving on one side. I then painted the fridge with chalkboard paint and spray painted the stove with high heat spray paint (In retrospect, I would still paint the fridge but maybe not the stove. The finish is matte and it does not appear to hold up well with use. But I intended on replacing the stove eventually regardless). I painted the walls with a mistint I found at the hardware store. I was planning to use a lighter gray, but I couldn't pass up a $5 gallon. However, when I got the first coat on it was way too dark for the 1950's kitsch look I was going for. So, I just added some lighter colors of paint that I had laying around to the mistinted gray for the second coat and it was much better. I left the floor until last so it could be a natural drop cloth for all the other painting. To take up the laminate was difficult because it was a plywood subfloor over hardwood with the laminate on top. I had to use a circular saw to cut through the plywood and I had my brother help me set the depth since I had never used it before. Unfortunately I cut too deep into the floor and did some surface damage so I had to rethink my plan to just stain and finish the floor. After some helpful suggestions on the discussion board, I decided to do a mixture of painting and staining and go for the "shabby chic" look. I hand painted some simple flowers and polyurethaned over it then waited VERY impatiently for it to dry so I could post some pics! It still need some finishing touches, but that's all it's gonna get for the time being!

Project Picture:
I'm adding some before pics in case you missed them....

And the Finished project!

And my super fancy decor

PS- The chalkboard paint looks really good in person, but the fridge got dirty in the process of finishing the floor and I really didn't want to rewrite the Pope Francis quote because I'm lazy and drawing/writing nicely is not my thing at all. So just imagine it prettier in your mind Smiley

PSS- Sorry I'm not sorry about all the pics. You're the only people I have to brag too! Haha!
