18  Candyland-Nightmare Before Christmas edition in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by butterflyangel on: October 13, 2015 06:08:13 PM
So my boy left recently for deployment and I wanted to make him little board games for him to play with his buddies so he won't be so bored but after making 2 HP games (both from here) that I figured I switch it up a bit. Since Jack Skellington goes hand in hand with Halloween, I thought I'd make a Nightmare Before Christmas version of Candyland after seeing http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=433337.0
I actually never seen the movie, so I had a really hard time coming up with what to put on the board, so I Googled everything.

This is the board I came up with

It's on a regular sized printer paper but it's a little heavy. I didn't have any black paper on hand so I just painted it black. The little location spaces, I drew and colored in with color pencils, then cut each one out and glued them onto the board. The little spaces is also drawn out on a separate paper and glued on.

closer view:

The locations I put are, Oogie's Lair, Tree house, Spiral Hill with the grave at the bottom, Dr. Finkelstein's lab, the Town Hall, Fountain, and Jack's House which is the objective.

the pieces:

I couldn't find my poly clay, so I decided to try to make the pieces out of salt dough.

Anyways, first time making a board game of any kind. It is NOT easy! Thanks for looking guys.

yoopidou: ah, thank you! It's usually my fav medium to use. For the Open when..I didn't do 200 different ones! Haha I couldn't even think of that many topics. I just did about 10-15 of the same topic  Grin

lindyv321: My heart! I LOVEEE the little Maraurder's map charm! So jelly! I have no idea how to make charms. Also the cute Hogwarts house magnets, they are so cute I love HP. Is it just little pictures inside a bottle cap? I can't really tell.

So here's what I've been up to. I've been busy making gifts to send for Halloween.

I made these cookies from this cute recipe I found on Pinterest. I tried to half it, and it turned out really bad..not exactly my best/yummiest work, but I think it still looks cool, so I sent it.

I also bought this deco pumpkin and painted it white with Jack's face since it's my whole theme.

...andd I made a little mason jar lantern. I was going to put in a LED candle light, but I only needed one, and they come in packs, so I put in a little solar light stake instead.

here's how it looks lit

That's all for now! I have more stuff that I will be uploading later today.

yoopidou: Yes I did thank you!

Quantumphysica: Thank you ! They're mostly just a crafty gift to be given. The HP one was a graduation gift and the other one is for a 21st birthday.

So before he left, the boy asked for wolf ear hat and fingerless gloves which of course I was happy to make

6. Wolfy hat

7. fingerless gloves

8. I also made him almost 200 Open When...cards. That was a LONG week
