1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Singlet Straps tutorial the Craftydeb way on: March 29, 2009 08:21:51 PM
Thank you Deb -- as much as I love queenofdiy's singlet bag tutorial, I always have problems with the straps. But I just tried your method and it was so much easier!
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Please help me troubleshoot my Bernina - thread nesting on: February 08, 2009 07:45:06 PM
Hello! I am fairly new to Craftster, and have seen and tried lots of fantastic tutorials here. Now I am having problems with my machine and figured this would be a good place to ask.

I have a Bernina Activa 130. It's about 8 years old and was serviced last in 2004. I've been working on a project sewing valances/cafe curtains for my son's kindergarten teacher. I've finished all but 2 (and those are almost done!), but can't seem to finish because every time I sew, I get a line of bird's nests. I've done just about everything the manual recommends and while watching (and listening to) the machine, the problem is in the bobbin case mechanism. I just don't know how to solve it! I have this problem whether I sew with one layer of fabric or the six involved in this project. The tension and presser foot are set to normal. I've changed the needle. I've turned the machine off and let it rest for a few days. I've taken the bobbin case out and cleaned out the whole area thoroughly. I've rewound all the thread and re-threaded the needle. I've put the bobbin in clockwise (recommended) and counter-clockwise. I've changed the tension. I've read the manual and done everything it recommends (except checked for threads between the tension discs, because I can't figure out where those are). I've taken the cover off and cleaned where the top tension thread is. I'm sewing with a 130/705H needle. I've held on to the thread tails for the first couple of stitches. I've started the needle on a non-corner. I've removed the bobbin hook and cleaned that area out. I've done everything (save the part that requires cleaning the tension discs, see above) on these troubleshooting sites:

I am going insane! What else can I try?
