1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: Making Hula Hoops, anyone? on: November 27, 2009 08:53:04 PM
I'm doing make-your-own-hoop kits for my first craft fair, next weekend.  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=328235.0 These are the samples I've been working on, and the looked so nice in the afternoon light I couldn't resist taking some pictures.
2  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Re: Gruesome Zombie Cake! Need Ideas? on: October 29, 2009 02:08:47 AM
Wow. Even grosser than those kitty litter cakes.
3  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Ease of construction on: October 27, 2009 06:56:05 PM
I love the simple design.
4  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Barbie's Fabulous Fountain of Blood on: October 26, 2009 09:44:32 PM
I found this "activity kit" for $3 at St. Vinnie's Thrift Store. The "activity" consisted of sticking plastic things in pre-existing holes then sticking more plastic things in this weird putty. Pathetic. But with a little leftover black paint, some red food coloring, and whatever scary stuff we could scrounge, sticks, leaves, rubber insects, and a real skull, we made it truly fabulous. Happy Halloween Barbie!

Breathing is for people who don't wear corsets.... Good luck with the rest of the project.

I like couture bunny best! But for you, I'd say the second style seems the most classic. Hope you have the perfect black dress to go with it Smiley
8  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: 2/20/09 - Carnegie Mellon Study on DIY Communities and Projects on: February 20, 2009 11:11:37 AM
I took the survey, quick and easy. I'd be interested to know what they're doing with the data, what conclusions they draw, etc. The DIY, craft-revival, reuse/refashion trend is terrific, people creating and expressing themselves instead of consume, consume, consume.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: power of baking soda on: February 20, 2009 08:39:10 AM
I checked this out because the picture looked so mysterious --- what craft is that? Terrific tip, though. That reminds me, I haven't cleaned the oven out since a big turkey spill on Thanksgiving.

BTW, you are better off if you can avoid the using self-clean feature. Self-cleaning releases noxious fumes into your living space. Make sure to ventilate well if you do decide to use it. Self-cleaning ovens, however, tend to be more energy efficient even for normal use because they are well-insulated.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Pollini Dress Sewalong? on: February 18, 2009 02:09:36 PM
I love the styling of this dress, with the fitted bodice, rather than flaring out under the bust line like so many things lately. I despair over sizing it up correctly, though. I'm wondering what it would look like in an entirely different fabric, bright colors, maybe even a print....
