1  The Pink and Grey Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by SnarkyShark on: July 26, 2013 01:40:10 AM
So I started this sweater for my best friend last fall, intending it to be her Christmas present, but at some point I really lost the passion for it and it sat on the needles for a long time, little more than the top half formed.

A couple weeks ago I finally picked it up again and got to work! Yay!

I can't believe I ever got sick of it seeing as I hated giving it away; I fell in love with this sweater in the end!

It's all Caron Simply Soft. It's ten rows dark grey, two rows white, ten rows pink, two rows white repeated c:
(Though I realized too late one grey stripe is 9 rows! Can you tell which one? Tongue)

I think the silver cuffs really make the colors pop. I love these stripes but doubt I'll ever do them like this again. I had A LOT of ends to weave in. A. Lotttttt.

Anyway, hope you all like it! Smiley

2  Flaaffy, I choose you! in Knitting: Completed Projects by SnarkyShark on: July 17, 2013 10:12:51 PM
So I knit another pokemon for my best friend's birthday!

She really likes Flaaffy so I made her one c:

It's pretty large, about a foot tall (maybe?). Knit with simply soft and pipsqueak yarn ^^

I'm really proud of how it came out! Especially since I really disliked it at first and thought I was gonna scrap the whole thing at one point haha. Hope you all like it!

3  The Best Time to Wear a Striped Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by SnarkyShark on: July 12, 2013 11:43:25 AM
Is when you finish knitting it! I started this baby sometime last summer, and finally got around to finishing it last night! I love it, it fits so well, and feels nice.

The body and sleeves are Noro yarn, the black cuffs are... something I don't remember, purchased at Joanne's. The black yarn is thick and kind of "roving-y."

I received the Noro yarn for Christmas from my boyfriends parents two Christmases ago, knit a sweater that fit horribly and looked awful, frogged the whole thing, and then reknit this beauty! I wasn't about to waste good yarn on a sweater I was unhappy with Tongue

I hope you all like it! I'm off to work on the sweater I started for my best friend now. It has also been sitting on the needles for almost a year so I better hurry up and finish it too ^^;

4  Recognize this yarn? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by SnarkyShark on: November 02, 2012 12:17:48 PM
My friend and I really want to find out what type of yarn this is:

We think it'd be gorgeous to knit something in.
I'm thinking maybe Noro, but it seems not quite as "fuzzy" as Noro.

Thanks for any help!

5  First Woven Scarf! in Weaving: Completed Projects by SnarkyShark on: August 29, 2012 07:44:24 PM
I'm an avid knitter, and I am taking a weaving/fibers class this semester. I wove my first scarf today and I love it! It took far less than time than I thought it would. About an hour not including tying the warp and adding the buttons.

Wool yarn, basic weave, about 60+ inches. I love it!

I love how they came out. No pattern, just made it up as I went!
I plan on doing more pokemanz in the future.

These are all made from Caron Simply Soft and stand about 6 inches each.

8  Help needed: Figuring out a stitch pattern in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by SnarkyShark on: January 19, 2012 09:26:33 PM
One of my best friends grandmothers passed away recently and she had been knitting a blanket for her grand daughter. I was given the task of finishing it for her and I want to do it well. The pattern forms a type of basket weave and stockinette stitch hearts. I haven't done anything like this before so if anyone could link me to any similar paaterns id be very grateful!

It has a garter stitch border, then alternates between forming the "woven" looking sections and forming the hearts. Ill post pictures soon! In the meantime ill probably be counting rows and stitches and trying to figure it out the hard way!

Here are a few pictures!

9  Striped Sweater! in Knitting: Completed Projects by SnarkyShark on: January 12, 2012 09:36:26 PM
I knit a sweater, using this tutorial! http://knitting-up-a-storm.blogspot.com/2007/04/5-in-paris.html

It's such an easy sweater! It's my second completed one, but I have to take in the collar of my first, so no pictures of it yet Wink

Blurry picture taken in a mirror in a hall in my dorm, ha! I'm really proud of how it came out Smiley

I used simply soft, took about one and a half skeins of each color.
The tutorial doesn't tell you how to do long sleeves, but I just picked up 8 stitches and began knitting in the round, decreasing one every 7 rows for about half the sleeve length. Also, I did a bit of the 'optional side shaping' you see later in the pattern

A little closer on the stripes...

Again, this pattern is SO easy and pretty, if you have ever wanted to try sweaters and were intimidated, I suggest starting here! This only took about 5 days to make!
I really want to make V-Neck sweaters, so if anyone knows any good tutorials or patterns please link me!
