1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Entertainment center to funky toybox Pic Heavy! and fixed the final pic! on: March 18, 2009 03:19:53 PM
So I fixed the last pic... I mess up on the grand finale of course!  Grin

The beaten up, old black entertainment center had to go. I got one of those sleek little ones for the flat screen tv. We were in serious need of more storage for all of my 2 year old daughter's stuff. So the slaughter began...

We eventually came to this... I was going to reattach the other door, then paint and refinish it. It would be like... a weird bench thing with two doors and a shelf in the middle?

Then I realized just how much we needed a toybox. Much to my husband's dismay, I asked him if he could make it work. Somehow... he did!

We chose a bright green and got to work. Here's where the hubby forgot to seal off the top and the white primer ran down. I didn't fix it... I think it looks pretty cool. Smiley

I found the too-good-to-be-true matching tablecloth cover at salvation army for a buck. I got a piece of furniture foam to fit on top and set to staple gunning it on.

Voila! A huge, shelf divided, stays open, comfy bench with a wipeable surface toybox!!

I think I want to start a business in this...

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Help me make a sign table and revamp my daughter's drawing table! on: January 29, 2009 10:27:49 AM
I love crafts. Absolutely adore them and could hang out looking at peoples projects for hours.

However, I tend to be a procrastinator/quitter/suck at crafts.

I'll do the work, but need ideas!

So here are the two projects I have in mind at the moment.

Here is my daughter's "drawing table"  It was my husbands but is now covered in stickers, spills and marker. I would love to add some color to it, I was thinking green since we are going to do her room in a jungle theme. Any way to spice up the chairs?

And here is my pride and joy. My lovely sign that  I found in a spring cleaning pile at about age 12. I refuse to part with it... but it is a bit cumbersome to drag around everywhere. So I want to turn it into a little table. Thing is, it's a bit trashed. As you can see there are holes on the sides and it's a bit scratched up. Any ideas for how to fill these?

Any advice appreciated, thanks!
