I picked up an receipt booklet recently at Ross, I loved the black design on it but in the middle sat the words in three different fonts Live Laugh love, normally I love quotes but this has been used way to many times so I decided to destroy it.  I had pieces of jewelry hanging around and thought hmm why not make a posh looking center piece? 

Here is the process:

Roberts + sale + blank treasure chests screaming at me to create something = personalized treasure chests for my nephews.

After creating these I filled them both up with chocolate coins because they adore those chocolate coins.

Inside: those white things are shells for anyone wondering, and the crinkly paper represents the chaos of the sea. 


Lid of the chest, freehanded Gaelic compass rose with the directions in gaelic as well.  I got that from a picture someone after I googled compass rose.  Now I can't find the original picture.  Above the compass rose (you can't quite see them) are two dolphins.

I loved the green paper on the side because the leaves are upraised and the whole paper has these velvety feel to it.  Each box has the nephews name freehanded by me on the spine, each done in a font to represent their personalities and that fit the design of the  box.

Awhile back I bought a necklace making kit, that looked vintage. The kit was on sale at Tuesday morning, the kit was by Fipper and was Phoebe if that means anything to anyone.  

 I bought it because it looked well vintage and I'm a sucker for anything vintage or french.  Anyways, the more and more I looked at each piece of jewelry in the case I thought I want so many of those trinkets on the chain it'd look to funny for me to wear it.  Step in Ikea bookcase, that I got in the as-is section (best section EVER) 

Besides being filled with books and whatnot I thought my bookcase was a little sad.  But I didn't have the heart to hammer anything into it or paint over the nice black finish.  But I felt it needed something,  Dumping everything out onto my worktop I chose certain pieces that pertained to me.  Something to inspire me.  Here's the beginning workings:

Yes at the moment the books are holding the necklace in place, just because I'm just not sure how I"m gonna make it stick since I don't want to hammer into my bookcase.  I was thinking glue dots.  Ideas on that?   Tell me what you think!

Yes I'm a big fan of SPN, and before I picked up crafting I use to write all the time.  Mostly my own stories I made up but everyone once in awhile I'd do a fan fic.  Well I created a fan fic, of a character named Julia Master.  Who is a hunter, she was dragged into it after her sister Meg was "taken."  Anyways long story short, this is her journal, the story being behind it that it was "found". 

When you flip through the book (you can't really tell, the pixs i do have of it don't do it justice) it shows burn marks, as if it had been put through a fire.  Pages are ripped out and burned to show taht someone had rifled through it wanting to hide something or take information.  Throughout the book information is cut out, theirs pictures of strange stuff, and amulets and other symbols.  It even has a few entries of how Julia became a hunter.  I didn't take uber lots of pictures showing each page because that would be alot of pictures.  and also my camera doesn't like to take Nice clear shots of this journal for whatever reason.   So when I figure out how to make them nice i'll post more.

How i did it was take a nice suede journal and hammered in some decorative brads to keep the belt in place.   I buy belts to destroy them, and I make different things out of them hahah. When you get past the belt, and open it up, (and throughout the book) theirs stamps to show where Julia has been.  Most of the stuff is stamps I had flying around or found at craft shops.  I really did burn the pages with a match, and glued old pictures throughout the book.  I also recorded any knowledge I had of the supernatural. X)  Any trinkets of jewelry in there are for symbols of protection or whatnot and I got those from alot of different things I save.  Anyways I'll let some of the pixs talk for themselves!

Dream Protection: (because Julia is plagued by nightmares on a nightly basis)


The back cover of the book, with a tag saying escape.  Because she wants out of this job, but because of what happened to her sister and herself.  She can't leave.  A heavy burden is on her shoulders.


Last page of book, the wings represent hope for her.  She has lost everything and is angry at herself and the world for the cards that have been dealt to her.  But she still hopes that there will be an end to this for her.

So I did this project after my best friend and I....well long story short, alot of anger was involved in what was happening, some tears and well it was fixed by someone else cheering me up.  Anyways.  I made this doll for my best friend, so she can chuck it around when she needs to or just bash the stuffing out of it.

It was made with felt, and hand sewn with black thread (green/black her fav colors)  The wispy bits on the top are supposed to be hair since I didn' thave any chunks of thread about. 

This is pulling it outside in? inside out?  Anyways I was done sewing it to the head and pulled it out fixed the arms and what not and started to stuff it from teddy bear stuffing I got from work.
