201  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Flowers on: March 21, 2009 01:59:36 AM
This is a very small and simple oil painting I did a while ago -- I based it off a picture I saw in a magazine (which I tore out and stole), as I thought it was very beautiful, and it made great practice.

That's amazing.
203  COOKING / Dessert / Plyushki - Russian pastries on: March 21, 2009 01:52:46 AM
These are plyushki, though my grandmother calls them zhavoronki (in Russian, that's the name of a bird -- I think it's "lark" in English). I have made these only a couple of times because it takes so long -- 2 hours or so for the dough to rise and probably another 3 hours to cut and shape the pastries. But the result is very satisfying.  Grin

204  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Flower ashtray on: March 21, 2009 01:44:20 AM
I know this is pretty weak compared to all the other creations here, but this is my first (and only, so far) pottery project -- a flower ashtray/incense holder:

Thanks for looking. Smiley

Holy damn, I'm so going to make that (the tin box thingie).
206  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Rug of ultimate ugliness on: March 18, 2009 09:44:21 PM
I have had a big and ugly beige-ish sort of rug sitting rolled up in my living room for forever. Is there any way I can improve it (like painting, etc)? And if I paint it, what kind of paint should I use?
207  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Unused headboard and footboard on: March 18, 2009 09:18:36 PM
Oooh -- that's a good idea, I think I may try that. Thanks. Cheesy

If you smoke, you can make an ashtray:

That might work with the headboard, though I'd have to saw some parts off...

Here's the headboard:

And here is the footboard:

Sorry for the crap in the back of the second one. >< Our living room is being used as a storage space by my boyfriend's aunt.
