1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sharpies + Satin ? on: January 16, 2007 08:42:49 PM
So I was thinking of buying a plain, white satin dress like this one for prom:

http://www.amazon.com/CLASSIC-Bridesmaid-Formal-Wedding-Juniors/dp/B000HCMTPU/sr=8-6/qid=1169008669/ref=sr_1_6/002-0228516-9755257?ie=UTF8&s=apparel

and making all my jewellery include sharpie minis and have people doodle and write all over me all night long.

Or I thought of getting this dress:
http://www.amazon.com/Strapless-Bubble-Cocktail-Formal-Bridesmaid/dp/B000LBO1P8/ref=pd_sbs_a_5_img/002-0228516-9755257

and drawing marilyn monroes a la Andy Warhol on the front chest panel, if that makes sense, using a Sharpie.

My question is- do Sharpies work on a "slippery" fabric like satin? I would want to keep the dress for a while after and want to the doodles to hold up. Thanks!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Bedazzled iPod on: December 29, 2006 06:31:37 PM

My friend bejewled an iPod. I helped. A little. AKA I ate snacks and watched her.

This is us.
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / CD tower on: December 18, 2006 12:27:36 PM
I bought a plain CD tower thing at TJ Maxx for six bucks. The paint was chipping in some places (plus nothing else in my room is plain!) so I decided to spruce it up a bit.

I stenciled headphones on one side.

I'm a huge No Doubt fan, so I cut pictures of the band out from the Rock Steady album booklet, painted this side black, and wrote the band member's names.

Then I doodled on the shelves!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Swavroski/guitar pick earrings & found necklace on: December 18, 2006 12:18:59 PM

Made these for a friend for Christmas. Two guitar picks, some sterling silver wire, and Swavroski crystals.

I can't decide how I feel about this. I had two random lengths of chain lying around, a small toggle clasp, some beads from the $1 section of Target, and a Jarritos bottle cap. This is my first time making anything with bottle caps, so I just was sort of really bootleg and squashed it under my foot until it was flat.

Close-up of the beads and bottle cap.

6  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Bubbly toes cloth mary janes on: December 17, 2006 04:19:09 PM
I bought some plain black cloth shoes for 4 bucks and made them cuter.
I painted on little white leotards, and sewed on tulle tutus and little gold hangers

they say "bubbly toes"

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Necktie dress (+ skirt) on: December 17, 2006 02:08:51 PM

I made a dress out of men's neckties and I'm kind of in love with it. I'm on the left.

My favorite tie is the manatee one

**Edit: my aunt wanted me to send her some pics so I took a few more. I don't have any more action shots right now (they're all on my friend's camera). Also added a few pictures of the necktie skirt I made last year that inspired the dress.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Necktie Dress on: August 29, 2006 06:09:01 PM
I made one of the ever-so-popular necktie skirts about a year ago and I ADORE it. I've been thinking about making an entire dress now, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. Would it be exactly the same as a skirt, only longer ? The ties get awfully skinny so I feel like I would need a bajillion of them, which would make the bottom flare out a lot. Anyone tried/have any suggestions ? Thanks !
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Day of the Dead party on: August 27, 2005 09:01:00 PM
My friend's is turning 17 in November, and the other day she mentioned she has always wanted a Day of the Dead part, since her birthday is November 2. So a couple of us are throwing her a Day of the Dead Surprise party. Any ideas for food, decor, stuff we can do, etc. that is Day of the Dead and not very costly? Thanks !
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Ton's o'jewellery on: August 20, 2005 11:39:43 AM
So I have been on a jewellery frenzy as of late. However, I have no luck selling any of this is craft fairs. Anyone know any tips to selling? Also, maybe my pricing is messed up (I'm awful with stuff like that). Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks !

Necklaces

1. Garnet + 14K gold

2. Amethyst chips, shells, + Sterling silver

3. Amethyst + gold-filled

4. Some stone I forget the name of + 14K gold

5. Seed beads, glass center, + Sterling silver

6. My favorite thing I've made. Sterling silver + 6+8mm Swavroski crystals

7. Lapis + Sterling silver

8. Quartz, Swavroski crystals, + Sterling silver. You probably can't tell in the picture, but the clasp is a little elephant.

9. Honestly, I don't know what any of this is, except for the Sterling silver clasp

10. 36 in. freshwater pearl + Sterling silver that can be worn like this, or as one really long one.

Bracelets

1. Seed beads, Sterling silver, + glass crystal centers

2. Swavroski crystals +Sterling silver

3. This is actually an anklet. Seed beads, Sterling silver, + shells

4. Swavroski crystals + Sterling silver

5. Swavroski crystals + Sterling silver

6. Swavroski crystals + Sterling silver

7. Freshwater pearls, plastic flower beads, + Sterling silver

Earrings

1. Plastic gun, Sterling silver, + Swavroski crystals

2. Sterling silver + Swavroski crystals

3. Sterling silver + Swavroski crystals

4. Sterling silver + Swavroski crystals

Rings

1. Sterling silver + freshwater pearl on elastic

Sets

1. Freshwater pearl, amethyst chips, + Sterling silver bracelet/necklace set

2. Freshwater pearl, Swavroski crystal, + Sterling silver earring/necklace set

3. Swavroski crystal + Sterling silver necklace/bracelet set. I actually didn't make the bracelet. My aunt had it made for me (It's a name bracelet), and I decided I wanted a matching necklace. The necklace was my first attempt at beading.

And feedback is greatly appreciated. I know the pics are terrificly crap, so if anyone wants a better pic of anything, lemme know. Thanks !
