11  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Watercolors for a Graduation Present on: May 03, 2010 09:15:52 AM
My friend's niece graduated from college recently, and she wanted to give her something special - so, we came up with these paintings of some of her favorite things - they're all roughly 3 or 4 inches square - so tiny, but they're going to grace the wall in her first "grownup" apartment, so she's very pleased with them.  I realized I took these before they were matted & framed, and then didn't get any of the "whole package" - so, you'll just have to imagine a light grey matt and gunmetal colored thin frames.

My painting prof always used to complain that my paintings were "too illustrative"....  I was a bit fussed over them, but now I think I like the way they turned out.
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Fake Cakes? on: April 28, 2010 07:21:43 PM
Spackle, caulk and/or modeling paste - depending on how fancy you need your icing details to be...  all can be tinted in colors to your heart's desire, and you won't have to worry about weather conditions affecting too much - though if it's really humid, it might take a while for the spackle to set up...  Have fun, and let 'em try to eat cake!
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Socks and soles on: April 26, 2010 04:41:17 AM
Wow!  You rock, and so do those socks!  A friend at work has maybe 8 half pairs of socks in progress - she finishes one sock, then gets tired of the yarn, so she starts another pair -- I'm going to make her look at your post!  Cheesy
14  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Shamrock Stained Glass Suncatcher on: April 23, 2010 05:30:05 PM
Thanks for the compliments!

Okay, so I'm on a roll -my goal was to post projects as I finish them - I'm running behind - but I did really finish this in time for St. Patrick's Day...  Got the pattern from Down East Stained Glass -- so I can't take credit for designing it, but I'm pleased with the way it turned out!

Cheesy  I did have a struggle with the stems -- I didn't have sheet copper, so I made layers of copper foil tape - it seems to be holding up so far, but I don't know about durability!
16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Friendship Bracelet Swap Gallery on: April 21, 2010 04:36:51 PM
Wow!  I definitely need to learn some new patterns!

Yay!    I received plentiful purpleful goodness from my partners - Received from PinkyK & Craftandbake on Tuesday, and from Ckchan today!

All of them in their purple plentifulness together:

PinkyK made a big purpley sparkley bracelet, then she decided it wasn't up to her standard of knotting, so she included a dantier version, too!  (I'm so very amused by the sparkles, PinkyK - thank you so much for both of them!)

Craftandbake made this pretty zig-zag pattern bracelet with different shades of purple -- I wish I knew how to knot that pattern!

And, last but not least, this diamond pattern from Ckchan - you girls are inspiring me to learn new patterns!

This was a fun first swap!  It's been neat seeing all the different variations on friendship bracelets!

My friend, who is thoroughly Irish, recently bought a new house, and, of course, needed a new mailbox. This was the end result:

Oooops! I just realized - I didn't take a picture of the front!  Guess I'll have an excuse to go visit, to take an action shot!  Wink
20  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My Easter table cloth. on: March 22, 2010 07:59:36 AM
Cheesy How festive!  Cheesy  Love the bright spring-y colors!  I've been saying I need to do something like this for a while, but haven't gotten around to it!  You could be my inspiration!
