1  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Help - Someone gave me this loom on: August 16, 2013 09:07:41 AM
I work at a school, and one of the wonderful folks I work with gave me this loom - it used to belong to a family member, and she has no idea how to dress the loom, it doesn't look like any of the looms I used when I took fibers classes as an undergrad, and I don't want to mess the darn thing up!  (and the kids are super-excited to try to use it)  Any thoughts, suggestions, or insight would be greatly appreciated!  MA

Lovely! You did a wonderful job - I particularly like your embroidery detail and the tablet woven trim - And I agree with the boyfriend - the 'silly random shot' is very nice - looks like it could be a still from a movie, with you as the heroine!

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Redoing retro chairs help!! on: May 11, 2011 07:49:29 AM
I would go with a wire brush attachment on a drill, then Rustoleum makes a spraypaint that's meant specifically for metal surfaces that have begun to rust - not sure how it works, but it seems to solidify the rust and keep it from rusting further - it's called Rust Reformer - then you can paint over, or choose to leave it that color - Good Luck!  Those are some cool chairs!

9  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Pleasure Horse Stained Glass on: May 04, 2010 02:42:31 AM
Very nice!  You did a lovely job, and there's no reason you can't work in stained glass at home -- I know several people who do (including me) - you just need to be extra-diligent around cleanup if you don't have a space dedicated solely to glass.

It's all good -- now I am the high school art teacher!   Actually, I teach at a K-12 program, so I get to do projects with all age levels....   Wink
