61  The Crazy Turtle Lady in CHALLENGE 13 ENTRIES by selkie on: July 06, 2006 10:40:50 AM
SO - here she is - the crazy turtle lady!!!
I had decided I wasn't going to "cop out" and do my mom -(I wanted to do some really obscure but really cool historical figure...) but when I found the turtle socks, I decided it had to be done...

My mom has pet turtles, they live outside in turtle heaven. Erin started out life as a boy, until she laid an egg. Then came Christy Brown - so named because a dog had mistaken him for a snack and he lost his left front foot... My sister-in-law had raised Floyd from a baby turtle and eventually discovered that she too is a female. For her 40th birthday, I spent a good year or two collecting 39 different turtle presents and it took her about 34 minutes to open them all.
Her license plate is TRTL HVN... The current rule is that the only turtles we can give her have to be smaller than her thumb. For woodworking class, my brother made her a display case for all the turtle figurines. And then there is the ball cap that I cross-stitched a turtle onto - at her request, with Erin's name.

So, without any further ado - I give you the CRAZY TURTLE LADY!!!

Even though she's bigger than my thumb, she will now be residing at the house of the Crazy Turtle Lady herself. When I showed her what I had made - she broke into laughter and was very flattered!!!

Almost forgot to add that the ball cap pattern was courtesy of Wild Ginger...
