This swap is a blast! It's so much fun to see the TLVs enjoying such varied activities.

That shot of Anana in the inner tube -- hysterical!

And I love the idea that Aurora was a book ambassador.

As for Hawk, well -- she got into the nature theme this week. We visited Beartown Rocks in Clear Creek State Park. Here she is perched on the rocky sign:

She found a cute sprig of oak leaves on the ground, and it was the perfect size for this pose:

Then she tried climbing the big rocks. As you can see, it was an exciting climb for her:

She came home with a few smudges on her legs, but it was worth it. I might have to clean her up with a damp cloth.

Hawk is signing on for the state symbol challenge. At last, she was able to have a photo shoot with two, yes two, of Pennsylvania's state symbols.

Yesterday afternoon my friend/coworker rushed in to the library to tell me there is a mountain laurel bush blooming right outside! Hawk got really excited, so I grabbed my camera and off we went.

Mountain laurel, Pennsylvania's state flower, is incredibly dainty but showy at the same time. Once you've seen a bush in bloom, it's hard to forget.

See more photos on Hawk's blog:  www.hawkpa.blogspot.com

Hawk was so tickled with the whole experience, she insisted on an up-close shot of her pointing at the blooms.

Later in the day (on my way home from work), we walked back the road to our local dam. I had seen an eastern hemlock (Pennsylvania's state tree) back there a few days ago. Although the light was fading, we managed to get a couple of decent shots.

We couldn't get to the tree itself, but here's a shot of Hawk sitting on the rope railing, next to a utility pole. The hemlock is behind her.

And a zoomed-in closeup showing Hawk's beak with the hemlock needles.

No luck yet with getting a picture with any of the Pennsylvania symbols, but Hawk went to work with me one day last week. She loved the library!

She noticed that most of the librarians were wearing glasses, so I made her a pair to help her fit in. She watched as I did some work on the computer:

I'm not sure green is exactly her color, but she could read the fine print!

In the stacks, she zeroed in on this shelf, but kept asking, "Where are the books about ostriches?"

Hawk had a busy Friday!

We bought plants. She wanted to eat some of the herbs:

She helped teach music lessons:

She learned about our historic downtown:

And we saw a production of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [Revised]."

Here's a clearer shot of the stage (no photos allowed during the performance):

And Hawk now has her own blog:  http://hawkpa.blogspot.com/

Gabby got to see ostriches and Hawk is jealous. She says they might have been her distant relatives.

6  Re: Box of Sunshine Round 2 in The Swap Gallery by zcrafter on: May 01, 2016 10:26:36 PM
I received a box of sunlit goodness from SonjaBoo, and she definitely spoiled me!

All the goodies:

Where do I start? Well, in the center, be sure to check out the chattering teeth! One even has a rose in its mouth. I laughed so hard when I saw this!

Also, dog treats, paper straws, lemon tea, paper lemonade cups, a sun paper decoration, Burt's Bees lip balm, tiny roses, ribbon trims, paper tags with jute, highlighters, goldfish crackers, a twisty ruler, buttons and baubles, glitter, a flowerpot flower, a JOY journal, a set of felt citrus coasters (straight from my Pinterest wishes) and a cute handmade fabric flower pin with a strawberry in the center.

Closeup of the coasters and pin:

THEN, there is this. A birdy pillow cover, also from my Pinterest wishes. It looks so cute in my living room!

Thank you so much, SonjaBoo! What a wonderful swap partner you are.

I'm back from vacation at Williamsburg, and Hawk has been patiently waiting in her box. Finally we meet. Here she is with the handmade gifts she brought along -- a lovely scarf, moon ornament, and fabric feather keychain (maybe it's an ostrich feather?).

She looked a bit overwhelmed when she met some of the natives.

This particular native (Brooke) was not so sure which was more interesting, Hawk or the camera.

But just to be safe, I assigned her to a special shelf in the china cabinet, next to my corn maiden.

I understand she enjoys the outdoors, so we will definitely be exploring the Pennsylvania Wilds. It's still quite cold and rainy here, but we're hoping for some sunshine.

Welcome, Miss Hawk!

After packing for her Oregon adventure, Flobot spent a few minutes saying goodbye to her family here at home:

Then, off to the post office! They said she should arrive by Thursday.

Flobot jumped onto the keyboard when she heard she's been approved for a Duck Hostel trip to ... somewhere!

I am so happy for her.
