1  Surf City Purse in CHALLENGE 25 ENTRIES by annaramma on: March 02, 2008 07:12:05 PM
My hometown is Santa Cruz, CA.

It's know for many things (beautiful beaches, an eccentric downtown, and the UCSC Banana Slugs), but Santa Cruz is best known for our boardwalk and surfing.

The beauty of the ocean and the lines of the old wooden roller coaster inspired me to make a felt bag representing Santa Cruz.

I started with a selection of felt, thread and two letter cut-outs (these Ds were only $1/each, purse handles can be so expensive!).

Painting the Ds a lacquer-red took several coats.

I cut out the basic shape of the bag and started stitching and cutting the designs for the wave and roller coaster.

After the felt pieces were assembled and the decorative stitching was finished, I added the rainbow lining (Santa Cruz's flag has a rainbow).

Finally, I stitched on the handles to finish off the purse.

Thanks for checking out my Surf City Purse!

2  Extra Stout Felt in CHALLENGE 18 ENTRIES by annaramma on: May 05, 2007 03:40:25 PM
My friends' toddler had the habit of sneaking unsupervised beer bottles at parties.  We now know to watch her like a hawk, but I thought she should have her own age-appropriate bottles.

Using fabric transfer paper I crafted two unique labels to commemorate the little one's birthday and attached them to the soft and cuddly bottles.

Thanks for checking them out!

3  Re: super simple felt cell phone cozy! NOW with tutorial in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by annaramma on: May 22, 2005 07:26:57 PM
I had to make one of these too.  It was so easy and now I don't have to dig around in my purse looking for my phone!

I love grey, red, and black together.

Here's the cozy in action!

4  Another Doggie Costume in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by annaramma on: May 13, 2005 01:54:49 PM
So, it's not exactly the Halloween time of year, but it will be soon.

My pup Nikita has always been a little crazy and hard to handle, so I call her "Devil Dog."  Of course, that meant I had to make her a devil costume for Halloween.

It started out as a supercheap doggie shirt like this (it could be plain, color coordinated, whatever):

and I added devil horns and tail similar to these

If you keep your eyes out, you can find child-sized horns/tails for $1 at Target, Kmart, etc.

Then remove the plastic headband from the horns (just snip a hole in one end and pull the headband out).  This can be tied or velcro-ed under your pup's chin.

Then I stitched the tail to the base of the doggie t-shirt.

Now I have a real little Devil Dog

Oh yeah, since it's a toddler/child costume, everything is pretty much doggie safe.  The dyes are non-toxic, no small parts, etc.  Nikita is willing to wear it for a whole evening and even falls asleep in her t-shirt.

5  Re:Glass Picture Marble Bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by annaramma on: December 06, 2003 08:58:40 PM
If anyone bought the smaller bracelet blanks from Rings & Things, here's an idea for using the larger glass drops.  I followed the directions, but I only put six drops on the bracelet and filled in the last five blanks with sequins.

You can pick up the theme of your bracelet.  For example, I used red and blue sequins with gold stars for the wonder woman comic bracelet.
You could also add rhinestones, beads, or little buttons.

By the way, I'm new here.  This rocks, I've already started three new projects inspired by this site.  Yay!
