1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Learning to knit... on: February 21, 2011 11:50:34 AM
Looks great for your first project!  Your brave to try a pattern and a hat for your first project.  I did a plain garter stitch scarf for my first project (boring!). Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Robot Kinect Cozy on: February 21, 2011 11:47:26 AM
My husband asked me to knit something to cover the kinect cause he was paranoid about it being able to see us all the time.  Shocked So, I made a robot kinect cozy for it.  I never got around to knitting the arms and legs though.  Do you think it looks weird without them?  Should I just buck up and take the time to knit them?  There are just so many other things that I would rather work on right now.

Cute!  I'll have to take a look at that book.  My son would love something like this.

Oh, sorry!  I didn't realize you meant crafts for the moms.  I don't know what your budget is but I found some ideas that looked like they wouldn't cost much.
Design Sponge has a really great DIY section that has some really cute craft ideas.  Here's some of my favorites from there:
Recycled upside down planter- http://www.designspongeonline.com/2010/04/diy-project-recycled-upside-down-planters.html
Take out menu binder- http://www.designspongeonline.com/2010/01/monday-diy-special-kates-menu-binder.html
Decorated canvas tote- http://www.designspongeonline.com/2009/11/diy-project-canvas-doily-tote.html
Stamped lavender sachets- http://www.designspongeonline.com/2009/09/diy-project-madeleys-stamped-lavender-sachets.html

You should also check out the Martha Stewart website.  There are tons of little crafts on there.

Here's another one using kool aid to make scratch n sniff paintings.

Here's another good one.  You dye pasta ahead of time and the kids can make necklaces out of them (as long as it has a hole like macaroni).
