1 ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Pimp my ROOM swap on: March 19, 2011 08:33:31 PM
So, i think it would be awesome to have a swap where you picked a room (like your craft room) and someone pimped it out! Or you could pick kitchen or kid's room or whatever you wanted. you could make a hoop for the wall or a art quilt or some crocheted bowls to stash stuff, or some potholders for the kitchen. It would be fun!

Maybe i'll have time to organize it next month.

anyone interested?
2 ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Post office concerns! on: October 23, 2010 09:06:55 AM
I recently shipped a large flat rate box and it was returned to me because "the flaps didn't touch" and therefore it didn't "fit" into the box and qualify for the flat rate.

I just wanted everyone to be aware that maybe the post office is being a bit of a hardass about this sort of thing, coming up on the holiday season.
3 ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / White Collar Swap? on: July 12, 2010 08:23:48 PM
Who else is obsessed with White collar? Who else thinks that Matt Bomer is the hottest thing on two legs???

i would love some magnets with hsi face on them, a gun holster, a shiny sheriff badge. I'm sure there are many other things people could craft. a wine bottle map. he does all sorts of art! i mean, he's an art thief/ con artist, right?

The premiere is Tuesday, but we could do something maybe later this month? maybe for August? or September? Maybe the next premiere date?
4 CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Long Open Shawl on: March 31, 2010 08:46:55 PM
I made this for the OWS56 for Banga and she received last Friday so I can post pictures. I'm actually really proud of it, and it turned out REALLY pretty in person. If I'd had more time I think it would do with a good steam and a little bit of blocking maybe. Though, its Caron Simply Soft so I don't know if it blocks well at all.

Anyway. This took about three skeins of the CSS, in Grey heather and I managed to do it in about 2 weeks, mostly in my commute, my lunch break and some time at stitch and bitch.

close-up looks kinda blurry this close.

one for size reference. That's me behind it and I'm 5ft7

5 ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Granny Square swap? on: March 29, 2010 09:42:55 PM
Anyone up for a Granny square swap? Not the granny squares themselves, but a finished product of some sort?

Like a purse or a scarf or hats or a lapghan or something?

Maybe like one largeish item and a small?

I could organize in probably like a month or something if anyone is interested!

I have no idea if there was one of these before, but probably, right?
6 SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / my machine just started sewing upside down. on: March 02, 2010 09:51:00 PM
I have no explanation for this, and You may deem me crazy. But tonight, I went over to my machine and tried to sew something. I started a new spool of thread and filled a bobbin. I threaded the machine, put in the bobbin, all like I have in the past, and then my stitches came out weird. I was trying for a zig zag stitch and got THIS INSTEAD.

That is the stitch as it is on the FRONT of the fabric.

This is the stitch on the underside of the fabric.

I can't figure it out. I rethreaded the machine. I used different thread. I used different fabric. I do NOT GET IT.

Does anyone have any idea? Its a Brother machine this one specifically: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-CS6000I-60-Stitch-Computerized-Functions/dp/B000JQM1DE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1267595393&sr=8-1

I've had it for about 3 months. Is it a computer chip or something? am I losing my mind? I think it might be that last thing.
7 PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / HBP decopage box [Image heavy] on: May 08, 2009 01:12:24 PM
It was my first foray into Decopage. I had this idea in my head. I made this for the Harry Potter Half Blood Prince swap and I wanted to cover the box with Harry Potter colors but then one of my friends gave me this idea. I cover the box in pages from the book and use some of the artwork inside and just make it entirely a HBP box, y'know? So this is what I came up with.

I got this box from Michael's. As you can see, its covered in butterflys. I just liked the shape of it. In the future, I will know that this shape of box? harder to cover. But I still liked it.

and I got some mod podge and a harry potter book

and went to work.

I really liked how it turned out... the only problem that I had was that the lid stuck when my recipient opened it. But she said that its not too noticible, so that's good.

thanks for looking!
8 CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Happy Hooker Bikini?? on: April 27, 2009 10:38:10 PM
Has anyone made this? My friend asked me to make her a bikini, and I'd love to try this pattern for her. I'm really confused about the sizing that I should make, though, and I can't seem to find the yarn!! Is there an alternative frmo the 80/20?? I have a Michael's and JoAnn's near me, plus obviously walmart, but I can't seem to find any cotton blends. Most of what I find yarn wise is either cotton or acrylic.

Any one have any tips? She wants hot pink with black trim. And I can give sizes if someone can help me try to figure it out.

9 CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Panda! on: March 30, 2009 09:20:29 PM
Okay, this one I like. A lady at work asked me to make something Kung-Fu Panda Esque.... and This is the best Panda pattern I found... its a Lion's Brand one. The name is supposed to be Patty, but I'm calling him Po because she did say Kung Fu Panda.

10 CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Elmo? sort of? on: March 30, 2009 09:18:59 PM
So, a lady I work with saw the ninja army I made the other day and asked if I could make Elmo. And possibly something from Kung Fu Panda, but I will post that in another post because I like that one.

This is... elmo like? I don't knwo. I found a pattern on the ravelry, because I do not do well with making stuff up on my own. and... I don't knwo... he looks angry. I'm afraid that the toy will tramatize the 2 year old that it is meant for. Of course, the 2 year old is probably not gonna care but still, these are the things I think about.

So, what do you guys think? Do you think he'd be non-tramatizing to a 2-year old?
