11  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Giraffes at the zoo! on: November 24, 2010 07:15:25 PM
Can you believe this is actually my first oil painting?! I wish I had started oil painting before last night. It is so hard but cool at the same time. I had insomnia last night due to being sick I suppose and started painting with the oil paint my boyfriend bought me for my birthday. I didn't have anything in mind that I wanted to paint for myself so I wanted to make a painting for someone else. I want to give this to my sister. She has a great obsession for anything giraffe related so I hope she will like this one. This canvas is smaller that what I normally work with for painting-- 11" by 14".

12  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Girl with Pink Hair on: November 17, 2010 04:10:35 AM

I wanted to make a girl inspired by Audrey Kawasaki since I love her art so much.  I wanted to make it more of my style but with connections through some elements she uses in her work.
Acrylic on Canvas 18x24
13  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Flowerhead Part 2: Flower Hair on: November 15, 2010 03:53:11 AM
I couldn't sleep last night after watching Mushi-shi because it is so beautiful and keeps me thinking. I was practicing drawing the faces I saw on the screen and decided to make a painting based off of a sketch. I wanted to hair the hair turn into something new... At first I started with fish then it changed to flowers. I also wanted to practice using a bit more natural colors.

I am not sure why I love looking at flowers so much. But this painting makes me smile.
Thanks for reading.

This is Acrylic on Canvas. 18in by 24in.

15  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Practicing making animated Gif: Walking, Jumping, and Tiptoe-ing. (img heavy) on: November 12, 2010 06:11:55 PM
I recently posted about my first animated gif video that I had made for a friend but I am still practicing GIFs in general. This is done by making several layers in photoshop and using image ready to animate them with the photoshop file. I am using a few books to help with the animation. I think one was called the Animators Survival Kit and another was called Manga for the beginner: Chibi. I used the templates as an outline for how I wanted to do my animation.

This first one is a chibi version of me trying to walk. I think I might try animating the background to make it look like I'm walking down the street.

This one is basically a copy from the survival book to actually see if I could do it.

This one is the first of the three that I tried. I made the man simple so I could easy see the movements.
16  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Angry Light Bulb: Updated with Friendly Lights! on: October 30, 2010 08:43:54 PM
I'm currently making some Holiday related pictures for the winter and wanted to share one. What kind of caption would you give this picture? I made him completely in photoshop. I'm still learning how to use the program.

After the comment posted I decided to making friendly lights.. I hadn't even thought of it! So cute! I love it.

I wanted to share a video I made for my friend over the weekend. I'm really proud of the way it turned out and was shocked at out easy it is to make an animated gif file. It was my first time using an animated gif and I guess just let me know what you think or tips for making gifs. Thanks.
18  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Random Kawaii Art. :) on: September 05, 2010 06:45:08 PM
These are some random drawings and a painting I did a few months ago. This is more of my playful side of making art. All on paper. The drawings are with crayons and the painting is with crayons and tempera paint.

This one is of a cute little snail. I wanted him to be the main focus of the drawing. This is on 8 by 8in paper.

This one is about a girl having a bad hair day. This is on 12 by 18in paper.

This one is about an unusual ninja. I did a series of unusual ninjas this one happens to be running with a bunch of flowers. The series was inspired by Simone Legno's ninja that is holding a hot dog riding on a skateboard. This is on 12 by 18in paper.
19  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Better Batman for Boyfriend on: August 17, 2010 02:45:42 PM
Since my batman before could have been more dynamic I created a new painting there are somethings I would change but my boyfriend is so proud of this one already that I decided to post it now. lol.  Cool The usual 18 by 24" acrylic on canvas. Big difference is I'm now using more expensive paint.

20  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Ironman... what... neato. on: July 15, 2010 11:47:16 AM

I realized I still don't have a niche for what I want to do with art. Sure I like to paint. When I went to the museum and saw the contemporary art, I started doubting myself as a professional artist. So I'm moving forward. Going to spend more time making high quality paintings. My last painting turned out better than I imagined, possibly because I spent so much time on it. Now I have to go back and fix all the other ones I just tried to whip up for the sake of having some art.
